We're fucked. The country as a whole. Its slowly going down the shitter. Thats the only reason I regret having kids because they are going to have to suffer through whatever kind of hell hole this place turns into. I think its to far gone to correct, to many people in power benefit from the way things are now to reverse it. I just want to move out to the country, stockpile some guns, and wait for anyone to come after me.

The word 'scare' is really based on opinion. I stand by the notion that people wanna know what the threats are when where how as much info as we have. When they get a little taste of that and nothing happens they see conspiracy.
Were you scared by the threat?
Besides, according to that article they saw no threat. It was a newspaper that caused the stir. Unless I'm reading it wrong.

Why not make over the welfare system to incorporate financial help for those who need it, together with drug testing (if positive test, welfare is stopped), mandatory job skills training and subsidized child care. Make a time limit for how long one can be on welfare and enforce it. That would be a way to help people to help themselves.
Bottom line, if you want to get ahead bad enough, you will find a way to do it. Problem is, most people are happy enough to stay the way they are and bitch about the raw deal they've been handed rather than trying to change it.

I have no problem with handouts if it is done in a way to promote the advancement of people through their own actions.
I had a shitty work ethic and didn't do well in school. My experience is limited and I have three mouths to feed. All of this is a direct result of my own actions and has nothing to do with how much money the government takes from me or doesn't give to me. I don't take handouts from the government because I take them from my father with the desire to better myself in the future and get off of that dole.
It is honestly a better way for me since he is willing to do it. I go over to his house and hear about how I need a better job and to get some money and start to save because he's not always going to be around. This improves my desire to get off of that dole. He only gives me enough to scrape by it's not like silver spoons and shit.
Naturally everyone doesn't have this luxury so if the welfare system were set up in a way to encourage people to better themselves in a period of time with penalties for lack of improvement than that would be pretty sweet.
