The Sosa Mcgwire home run race thing was the last time I really paid attention to baseball for any reason. If they were juiced then so what the juice brought in some more ratings. Without ratings the sport will drown and all the players will move back to the dominican republic.

Boy the way Glen Miller played,
songs that made the hit parade,
guys like us we had it made,
those were the days,
and you know where you were then,
girls were girls and men were men,
mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again,
didn't need no welfare states
everybody pulled his weight,
gee our old Lasalle ran great,
those were the days!

Hi.

Eh, I actually think we can overlook it, for several reasons:

1) We already know that athletes take health supplements of all various types just to keep going, and are usually dosed with stuff like cortisone just to play through the pain. The physical activity of sports is so grueling, and an athlete's time in the spotlight is so fleeting, that they probably should take whatever is necessary to perform well for as long as they can. Having said that, they should all know the risks that taking such things will affect them long after their playing days are over-- trade success now for pain and frailty later.

2) I don't care how much steriods they pump into their bodies, it still takes tremendous amounts of genuine skill to connect with a baseball coming at them at 90+ mph from 60'6" feet away, and send it flying. If anything, all those extra muscles probably slow their bats down (although you can make an argument that the added strength might turn a few would-be pop-ups into homers, but that is debatable).

Say what you will about Bonds, but that guy has a near-perfect batter's eye-- he's almost impossible to strike out, and will often make solid contact on the ball. Jose Canseco, conversely (who admitted to using steroids), may have 470+ HRs under his belt, but he's also got a hell of a lot more strikeouts, too.

And if so many players are on the juice, why is it that only a select few hitters had over 50 HRs last year, or for the past few years for that matter?

3) The supposed "edge" acquired by players gets negated if so many players are taking it, as has been alluded. If the pitcher is taking steroids, and the hitter is taking them too, then aren't we back to a level playing field?

Quote:SAN FRANCISCO -- The samples from drug tests taken last year by Barry Bonds and six other baseball players have not been destroyed and can be retested to determine if the players used a designer drug at the center of an alleged steroid-distribution ring, the San Francisco Chronicle reported

[Image: img7221573.jpg] Test the shit and lets find out once and for all if he was shooting up the roids last year.
No 40 year old black man looks like that. I say test him then fire him...out of a cannon..into the sun.

We all know Babe Ruth was on steroids, so why not barry?

Quote:\"Babe Ruth holds the record for the longest complete game victory in World Series history. In 1916, as a member of the Boston Red Sox, Ruth went 14 innings to defeat the Brooklyn Dodgers\"
It's also been reported that Babe Ruth
was a speed user.

I know how assinine this may all sound but sometimes the truth hurts

How dare you insinuate anything indecorous of the Great Bambino. Have you no shame or decency?!?! Your only penance is to hurl yourself in front of a speeding truck, which I insist you do immediately... you godless heathen
