As some of you may have noticed, you can't login as moderators in the chat anymore. Here's a snippet out of an email that Steve sent out, and was forwarded to me...

Along with the consmetic changes, we're also making some administrative
changes. One of the areas we're going to streamline moderators is the chat
room. Effective immediately, there will be no more moderators in the Foundry
chat rooms. At this point, I think it's just a waste of resources that could
be better put to use elsewhere. I like having staff writers, I like having
you guys contribute to the many sections of this site, but policing the 20 to
25 people who populate that chat room, some of whom may or may not be
troublemakers, is silly. Let 'em police themselves. We're not going to be
the geeks who set the standards everyone has to measure up to. Also, and
this only applies to a few people: There were way too many instances where
moderators were abusing their privileges and booting people from the chat
room, for let's face it, stupid fucking reasons. So as of today, no more
moderators in Foundry Chat.

Fuck man, Jeff was just about to hook me up with my powers too. This blows.

Thanks Froy for the copy of the foward.

Well as long as I can't get booted by the chat mods, it's all good.

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

Wait a second, no reprisals for what you say to people in chat? Shit, it might actually be worth going to chat now;)

Steve C. has shown here he lacks the ability to understand how the chat is supposed to work. Police themselves, eh???? 25 people...hardly. He's just assured that chat will be dead for time immorial. And yes, he has a huge distaste for "internet" people, and feel anyone who questions the Foundry design is also a "neanderthal". Basically, he has a negative attitude towards his "customers" which will pretty much assure he will continue to alienate all those here.

Steve maybe a nice guy in person, but as a business man and content provider, he's an asshole. He lacks an understanding or respect of those that use his site.

FURTHERMORE:
Ever since we've gone under the Foundry "umbrella" this site has seemed to roll to a stop in regard to show mention, and overall excitement. I understand the fiscal reasons, but think besides that, that is the only benefit we have gotten in doing so.

Steve's been given a free ride too long. Countless times he's had derrogatory things to say about people who use his site, and those here...and it's belies an igorance on his part, seperating it to: "Us" vs. "Them". He deserves the verbal drubbing on this one.

De-modding us in the chats, when we were the ones who used it and spent the time, is purely idiotic...and smacks of revenge from somebody else b/c of personality conflicts here. Trust me on this one, this stems from someone else, who quite frankly, shouldn't have his admin status here anymore.

Well, no offense Matt, but that is a load of shit. If you owned lets say a record store, and you pissed on your customers every time they asked foe music you didn't like, you would be on the corner selling your ass by the end of the week.

And if it sucks that much, then fuckin throw in the towel. Why should i sympathize with him at all? He has a posh job that HE wanted. He makes more than most of us combined and if he doesn't, well, he needs a career change.

If i took out my shit and pented up garbage on my customers, i would be on unemployment and posting here all hours of the night. Well, maybe not here, but I think you get the fuckin jest.

Matt, you can like Steve and all his bullshit but let me ask you this: How well would you be doing if you took up that same, shitty, self serving attitude he does? I am willing to bet this site would be floating right next to WB and OTL? That fucker wouldn't be possible.

Matt, as a webmaster, explain this one. Were Foundry Chat Mods a liability to FoundryMusic.com? Did Steve C, like yourself, pay the mods for doing the moderator job? Because if he did, I demand my back pay.

Steve just likes to speak his mind more than I do. He's also a lot more harsh than I am. I'm not saying he should or shouldn't voice his opinion, just that I understand where he is coming from with what he says. It's his site to run as he sees fit, it's not my business. But I think it's very easy to sit and criticize or second guess when you're on the other side of the coin, that was my whole point.

Contrary to popular belief, Gooch, it has nothing to do with me. Maveric kept e-mailing Steve about the fights going in the chat room between the mods. He got fed up, and took it away from everyone...oa.com and foundry mods. There are no mods in chat now, from any site. It's his decision, he owns it. Being that the chat room only has about 20 people in it at any given time anyway, the loss of those 20 will hardly impact the site. Steve just doesn't want to hear about the bullshit anymore. It's stupid and unnecessary and he has his own problems to deal with. This site doesn't generate any money, he has no customers, this is not a business. We make enough to pay the server bills.

That's it. Now you can spend more time on OA.Com.

By the way, you guys were never under the "Foundry Umbrella". Froy was always in charge of this site. We had NO hand in policy or whatever

I don't appreciate your insinuations either, Gooch. There are no personality conflicts. Let's not forget I saved this board from certain financial death and licensed you my software for free.

So, in other words, Steve couldn't handle Mavric's internet bitching so he demodded chat?

It's called block him on AIM, and filter your email if you don't want to hear the BS.

Either way, I mostly used the Mod controls to cross reference IP #'s when needed.

Since Steve speaks of wastes of recources, riddle me this: Isn't sending out a mass email on this site because your party sucked ass when it was a rf thing almost as much of a waste as the rest of your pathetic life?

Thank you for proving my point without me having to respond. You CLEARLY have issues with this board. Keep soaking that "newbie site" buzz...b/c this board isn't going anywhere...you are merely riding the wave on that site...albiet both sites should prove successful as the shows are successful.

And, I do agree with Sean, as to that questionable use of the mailing system for your own party. Posting it, fine. Using the mailing list for your personal use, irresponsible.

I will admit that you have done GREAT WORK and EFFORT on anything you've done...

...but the other stuff that has come along for the ride time to time is not appreciated. There is a level of ridiculous pettiness, attitude, intensity, and misguided rage in pretty basic situations. It's a freakin Message Board...and not god's gift to the web (and that includes all of these sites), and it's not a refuse bin for personal baggage and mishandled relations.

As for Steve listening to Mavric's emails, that is just the most moronic thing in the world. Tell that man to get a little less manipulated by the one or two freaks that can't handle chat. Robeec and Mavric were the only ones who continually got booted, and they deserved it everytime. Maybe Steve should spend an ounce of his time to educate himself online and SPEAK directly to those who use the fuckin chat than listening to the TOOLS that ruin it for everybody. This chat has been mishandled, and quite frankly, and embarassment, and it's Steve's own fault. B/C in the beginning, it was a great idea and was used well. Chats can't police themselves unless you EMPOWER those in there, or have moderators...there is no in-between. And you can't half-ass it.

And Steve is thankless to the time and effort we made in that CHAT, taking OUR VALUABLE TIME to go in ther eand make it workable for those chatting...SO he can go fuck himself, b/c he, like you, is an unappreciative fuck. He does not respect his mods, nor the time and effort we made. And that is unfair, and quite frankly, truly at issue, at least with me. He never had a clue to what went on there, just got his panties in a bunch over one person's emails...THAT'S FUCKIN PATHETIC.

Here's a tip that will save you alot of grief and time...

Don't believe in and depend on anyone but yourself.
