Nice beatin' of Theodore Roosevelt Lilly today (yes, that is his middle name, according to McCarver a couple weeks ago anyway) today. Mo is a Yankee killer of sorts, so that's a reason to keep him, I guess. (Actually, if you're a Met fan, you gotta love that Mo is breaking out of it)

Mets need tomorrow night desperately, if not for anything else, it's because if this season goes down the shitter, we can at least have some solace in that we won our World Series for the year as TW put it. That said, I'm confident we have a Braves-like surge in us, as the signs are there, I just hope it ain't too late. Braves are tough to catch now, and we might not be able to do it because of this head start they got, but I see a 40-15 surge in us, because it is impossible to think Vaughn and Burnitz and Alomar are gonna end up keeping up with this pace, as the Baseball Law of Averages state they are gonna have a hot as hell 2nd half each.

Nice steal of home by Cedeno, btw. Now THAT was cool.

2002 Crack Committee Objectives:
1. 94 Wins and the NL East title
2. Hate the Braves with a passion.
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year
4. Mets win the World Series

Just got home from the game. Nice shellacking of the Yanks by my Mets and Mr. Alois Leiter. He needs to be signed soon so he can retire as a Met. VERY NICE steal of home by Cedeno. Big FU to all the so-called Yankee fans who walked out after the 6th inning. Let's go Mets and hope Petite concentrates more on his personal relationship with God than pitching a good game. Also big thax to Joy UTC for socring good seats.

Still can't figure out these Mets.
Friday's game, They rebounded from early 5 run deficit to cut it to 1, only to give it back - I thought that would demoralize them. Today they were hitting on all cylinders; Only Burnitz w/o hit, Dingers by Vaughn & Piazza (as well as Wilson), Gutsy steal of home by Cedeno, good pitching by Leiter.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.

2002 Crack Committee Objectives: (modified version)(You gotta try and believe....)
1.Hate the Braves with PASSION and extreme prejudice
1a. Try and go a week without having to punch a wall in frustration after watching the Mets play
2. 90 Wins and somehow get the Mets into playoffs this year
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year
3a.Have team understand it is OK to get a hit with runners on base.
4. Mets win World Series (after divine intervention)

Me neither Pete. Everytime i think a big run is coming, something bad happens, like the bullpen breaking down or something. We can only hope that this offensive explosion (in which they scored in 8 different innings, which makes it even more impressive) continues tomorrow. 2 out of 3 is a good way to put that Braves series behind us.

Oh, btw, Braves are fucking 31-9 in their last 40, the best team in ALL of baseball in the last 40 games. Just fucking figures. Gotta love the way the offense is producing though, and you know the Braves will falter soon. They just arent that good.

Thanks to Austin for the pic

Nice to see Vaughn stepping up finally. Leiter had a solid performance last night... If Trachsel can pitch like he did VS. the Braves then we'll be alright. Our offense has been pretty good of late, we just need to preserve the lead. Always fun to beat the Yanks, tonights game will be a good one....

well the braves did their job for the yanks by sweeping boston, with a win tonight they can take a 2 game lead in the AL east for the first time since god knows when.

And i think you mets fans might have to accept the fact that the braves ARE that good...they are doing something remeniscent of what the mets did in 2000 to go on a huge run midseason to take the division.

[Sarcasm]Even though the Mets were beat soundly tonight, if your Mets fan you can at least be satisfied that the Mets gave it their all and came out ready to play tonight. you can just tell from the 1st pitch on that this team was determined to go out there and play a hard nosed, smart 9 innings of Baseball. It wasnt like they looked half asleep out there or had their heads up their asses. It wasnt like they had guys get picked off at 1st with 2 outs, or making more defensive miscues, or having about 8 strikeouts on balls in the dirt, You have to lift your head up high at the wonderful performance of the Mets tonight. LETS GO METS!! [/Sarcasm]

Not a bad weekend. WIn 2 out out of 3 and the Red Sox get swept. Of course I have read fan sites and Red Sox fans are complaining that the Yankees play the horrible Mets while the Red SOx play the best team in the NL in the Braves.

Anybody who complains about the schedule in baseball is a fuckin crybaby loser looking for an excuse. This is not the NFL. Its a 162 game season, I think thats enough time to decide a winner. Stop crying because your playing Atlanta, How about winning a fucking game against them. If you cant win 1 game against Atlanta at home, look at yourselves in the mirror instead of bitching about it.

If there is any team in baseball who should be able to complain about the schedule, its the Mets since they play the Yankees 6 times. But who cares, that only 6 games out of 162.

Last nights game was great. Sitting behind the mets bullpen, heckling Franco & the rest of those cock-knockers, watching drunk be ejected by cops, Pettite pitching a 3hit, 8 strikeout, complete game...damn that shit was sweet

Why is it that there are so many yankee fans concerned with who is gay? are they looking for dates? :-D

On the field, series came out even, but Mets needed it more than Yankees, and that makes it disappointing.

I couldn't agree more with FB (and I guess Teenweek). with a 162 game schedule, just play the games they give you and shut up.
