Happy the about the wardrobe malfunction

I said the same thing yesterday about Janet's nipple slip. I am so glad it happened cause now there are great bands that play instead of hip-hop, pop BS.

I hope you're being sarcastic. My friends and I were talking about how crappy the halftime shows have been ever since that incident. I don't think any normal person under the age of 35 has enjoyed one since then.

Petty's music crosses generational lines but I doubt there are many people under 50 who find Springsteen interesting or relevant.

The people in the target demo do. That's all that matters.

Yea! As I was watching last night, at first I was like, hey he looks kinda familiar. I totally forgot about all those times he's been gone from Conan because he's touring with Bruce.

5 acts pre-nip-slip:
2003: Shania Twain, No Doubt, Sting
2002: U2
2001: Aerosmith, 'N Sync, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, Nelly
2000: Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Toni Braxton
1999: Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Savion Glover

5 acts post-nip-slip:
2005: Paul McCartney
2006: The Rolling Stones
2007: Prince
2008: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
2009: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

Before, they at least attempted to appeal to all age groups. Now, "Lets just entertain the old folks!"

note: Don Mischer Productions was the producer on all shows since the "incident."

They're focusing on the money demographic. The ones who are more likely to spend money on the advertisers. Welcome to the television business!

You really think so? Go Daddy, Coke, Pepsi, Doritos, E-trade, Sobe, Hyundai, Budwiser, Miller high life, and Gatorade all seem like things the 18-35 age group would be spending the most money on. Not to mention most of the movies, with the exception of Monsters vs Aliens, and UP which parents will spend money on for kids to see. The target demographic doesn't seem like the 35+ age group at all.

Or, they can go back to targeting every age group, like they did before 2004

The demographics recently shifted, RM, and the networks are looking at things differently than they ever had before. They've never targeted EVERY age group. They used to see the 18-49 demo as their prime audience, but now they're looking to include older crowds. There are a million reasons for this, the least of which not being that people are living longer, and there's a larger than ever percentage of people in the older crowd.

I just meant the halftime show...

And the halftime show, like everything on TV, is there to attract the viewers who are most likely to spend money on the advertisers.

I'd love to see the Foo Fighters play the halftime show. It'll never happen, though.

not a huge Springsteen fan, but Born to Run was pretty cool, though I agree with what the guys said about the rest of it being pretty corny

I'm about 21 and I like Springsteen. You don't have to be old to enjoy good music. The Timberlake type music they used to play was terrible, now we get real music like Prince.
