chat is killing the message board

Somewhat agree. Not sure if it's as extreme as "killing", but I do think it's causing a pretty sizeable slowdown of posts.

I don't really have anything against chat, per se, I personally have no desire to go in it (can't at work, don't feel like it while at home), but I do wish that it wouldn't have a negative effect on posting.

Chat:

Positives;

Members that frequent become closer
Less 'filler' posts and chit-chat in the regular board


Negatives;

Funny things that may make great threads are discussed in chat and not expanded upon with the rest of the board.
