I'm not one to complain, but SERIOUSLY, I've heard "diddled yer ear" at least twice in the last few weeks. I'm all for a FULL day of week in review. Or spread over a few days, I don't care. Diversify. Play some of the not-as-funny stuff for the Sat. best of, I don't care, it's all gold to us die-hard fans, just as long as you can't recite the words with them.

It bothers me that before their contract was about to expire they said when they re-sign they would talk about all the things they weren't allowed to say about Stern, and they said they had all this information they wanted to share with us.

Well boys, when are we gonna hear it? Never??

I would like to hear about all of the behind the scenes stuff with howard as well. The secret is kind of digging at me just because they did say that they would tell us about it. Hopefully they will soon--even if it has to be code talk- i think all of us are smart enough to figure it out

i am gonna say something i never thought i'd say i agree with cranky ass, lol.

I have not been listening to the show as much as i used to for many reasons. One of which is i feel they are not the same O&A i knew and loved to listen to.

I am a huge fan i used to plan my whole work day around being able to listen to the whole show and tape it everyday.

My biggest beef is for over a year we had to listen them bitch about the gag order. How when they day came when they could talk about howard they would. Remember the whole "i am not john dibella" speech?

They bullshit us and say well hey it is old news and why waste time talking about howard?

well by that standard them getting kicked out of boston is even older news and why bother with that? Why you ask cause it makes for great radio. I felt jay mohr bashing howard was the funniest thing i heard in a while.

No matter how much he sold out still give the devil his due he rose to a peak no one, not even O&A will probably ever reach.

I don't mind old bits i mind that they are not doing anything to match those old bits, what about new bits? What about the days when they would talk about bullshit and just roll with the day and it would be great.

Guests are great but when you begin relyig on everyday guests and girls and all that shit you are becoming dependant on others to make your show funny. Bill is dead is funny how about something newer?

I feel they are not as fresh as they used to be.

They rely on guests and women and callers too much. Plus i know how great it is they are syndicated and are getting exposure but enough with talking about yourselves about your Time article and this news piece yeah we saw it, rock on. But when you spend 2 hours reading us the article it gets annoying. 10 mins, 30 mins is cool but 2 hours is a bit much.

there is no shortage of material in the world. And do not reply to me "ooh well if it is so easy do it." Hey i probably could if i devoted my life to radio, but it is not my chosen field it is theirs.

That is my beef ridicule me bash me go ahead, don't fear that i am a mod or that i am a veteran member or that i am gonzostyle. Tell me what you think i wanna know.

Gonzo, I agree with you 100%. yes, I still listen because I am a big fan, but I am barely listening to the best of's this week and when they bits from the archives, I just turn it off and switch channels to music.

I will probably catch hell for this, but I have turned in a few times to Howard's best of's in the morning this week. It shows so much more how better Howard was back in the day, than he is right now. The thing is, is he is putting on bits that are not replayed 100 times. O&A's bits from best of, many of them are played during their show now. How could they put something that just happened 2 weeks ago, even a week ago as a best of.

Anthony responded to me earlier in the thread saying that the bits are spread out during the day and that only the hardcore fans get sick of it.

With all of syndication, how many times has the Bills Dead been played, or Mom I'm in porno or green poopies, or blind boxing. They have so much more stuff they can put on than what they do put on now.

They need to do their show, bust balls, give the listeners what they want and talk about all the things that we want to hear about. Howard is everywhere, so that would be an interest to all of the Syndication markets, while this tirade on Boston is really just about Boston.

Hey, stacc. This thread is not for insulting them. It was meant as a thread to constructively criticize the show. No one wants to see the show turn into a Howard Stern ego trip borefest.

Anthony is on the board all the time so he can understand that there are things wrong with the show. Even though they are the best thing on the radio, the show is not perfect and does have it's flaws. Getting feedback would only help the show.

Get adopted because insulting the hosts of the show we all listen to is not going to help you much on this board.

stacc, you are an idiot. Everyone or everything is able to be criticized by somebody.

The O&A show is not perfect. Constructive criticism is good and can only help the show. If you do not like us or O&A, just leave.

The tease...... not just the one break tease, that doesn't bother me so much. What I really can't stand are the drawn out, 3 hour teases. You know the ones..... Opie says "Ant, we GOTTA talk about blah blah blah, but we're up against the break, we'll get to it when we get back", then immediately after the break they go back to the phones, and eventually two or three hours later they get to the object of the tease. Now I understand the game, but how can you bitch about the news shows doing it when you are guilty yourself?

I agree Gonzo...

I feel there is something very different between the shows of last year thru December, and now. It's definately stunted a bit. I find myself yearning for the older shows and bits, b/c the show lately has been just coasting. Back when they were pissed off on a daily basis, it made for some classic radio. I find myself also not tuning in lately, b/c that level of excitement and that feel of "anything can happen" has disappeared a bit. Things seemed more plodding and planned, and I'm not sure that has made the show, since syndication, any better.

Then again, it'll probably pick up. But if I have to hear another rant about Dave Dickless one more time, I'm gonna puke. Being back in Boston is great for the boys, and they'll do great. But, NY, plus many other cities are probably thinking the same thing...fuck BOSTON. Boston's good for one thing...and if anyone knows what that one thing is, email it to me, b/c I'm clueless on it. =)

i disagree as to Opie changing, and actual enjoy Norton on the show. And they've gone thru slow trends before. Changes bring a little uncertainty, and they may just need to adjust. But, I do notice the difference.

Good point GS. That bothered me too when they came back. That was one of the first things we expected to hear, but it's how many months now and so far nothing. I may be wrong and most likely am, but I kinda had this feeling like one of the provisions WNEW threw in to the syndication deal was they could talk about Howard, but were still gagged from totally going off on him. It makes sense because in no way would Infinity allow their top two shows to go at it tooth and nail. It would only make them look bad in the long run. That's why I feel the boys are still gagged from totally saying what they want about Stern.
Another point is the whole "we don't prepare for the show" line. Granted, I believe they may not prepare as much as other shows do and completely wing it on some of the bits, but when the Planet of the Apes music hits and Ant goes into a 1/2 hour rant as Heston I find it hard to believe anyone can completely pull that out of the air without preparation. The same holds true for a show a few weeks ago when they mentioned the show 3's Company which by the way had no bearing on the topic they were covering. Lo and behold out of the blue that theme music hit. You can't tell me that Rick or whoever is in charge of that was able to find and download that obscure song in a matter of seconds and get it on the air. No, they had that planned from the beginning.
These aren't big things and I still love the show like no other I've ever listened to, but we dealt with shit like this with Stern and now it kinda bothers me to see O&A head down that road too.

Moosen you basically summed up what bothers me
about them. I love the show and everything
despite the fact that it has slipped since they
got their big contracts, but the one little
nagging thing that bothers me is how they claim to
be a spur of the moment show. granted you can
tell some parts seem to be really spur of the
moment but come on, when they just happen to
mention some old tv show off the top of their
heads and all the sudden they got the theme song
playing to it?? i dont know, it's almost like
they're trying a bit to hard to try and shove it
down our throats that they dont plan out their
show and how they're so great cause they just
randomly come up with this stuff. dont get me
wrong, i love the show and they're by far the best
entertainment on the radio, just that there's not
that feeling anymore like damn it's 3, gotta turn
on O and A to see what's going on. hopefully
things will start to change back once the whole
syndication things starts to set in.

I don't think it would be beyond belief that they would have a tv theme cd and it's not like it is a rarity that Ant does Heston so I'm sure that theme is always close at hand along with Al Sharpton's Sanford and Son, Zachory Smith's Lost in space, and Tom Brokenjaws intro.
I honestly get bored with going on and on about WOW and strippers in the studio, granted their use of the internet to share with listeners is groundbreaking, but it is not like it's the biggest challenge in the world to find pictures of naked women on the internet and hearing "nice funbags" and "can we see those" isn't that entertaining just to listen too in my car or at my desk.
The show is at it's peak when Ant uses his impressions and seemingly endless knowledge of pop culture in relation to current events or when something triggers a repressed memory from Opie's white trash upbringing sending him on a sadistic tiraid. And it's always fun when someone gets a turn in the barrel.

But nothing is worse than a phone call from Louis.

Amen. Louis was funny when he used to make fun of Spaz, but he hasn't had a good line since. What makes it even worse it that he tries way too hard to get a laugh, which just makes it pathetic and painful to listen to.

I've been a fan of this show for so long, and yes i know i don't post as much as you guys..but in all fairness I have to be really PISTED OFF to do so.

In a weird way it's cool that this show has the smartest and funniest fans unlike any other show in the world and that you guys caught all these little things that make this show honestly some what similar to the rest.

What the hell happen to them....what happen to the days of no remorse for the consecuences, were Opie could punch a fatguy from Airsick, or Ant could go off on Howard Stern... for being the jackoff an egotistical maniac that he is at anytime of the show...what happen to the days were planning for the show was something that I don't know THEY DIDN'T DO!!....what happen to the days were they talked about anything I mean anything and make it a show...(example... watching a show on telemundo and how they were trying to figure out what the fuck those people were saying),etc, etc.

...somebody once said "When money talks bullshit walks"...I truly hope this is not the case for the people I'm a fan off.

That just about sums up what I love about the show. Even a Louis phone call is indirectly funny because of how UN-funny Louis is, and the disdain that follows.

I know the show will find its groove again. They just better address all that shit they talked about regarding Stern before they signed.

I'm waiting.

You will NOT hear the boys go off on Howard because Howard is the meal ticket and O&A's lead in. They need his audience to suceed in other markets. It doesnt benefit them in the slightest to knock him down too much. You guys are just waking up to the fact that the guys are full of shit? They didnt prepare shows before syndication? Are you high? Of course they prepared shows. Of course all those "spontaneous" conversations were nothing of the sort. You believed that line about not preparing for the show? You believed they really pulled all that stuff about telemundo and Days of Our Lives out their ass? Of course they didnt. The biggest problem with the show now is its overly repetitive. It is also necessarily more organized because they need to hit those commercial breaks on time.

Tired of the same old best of bits? Well, unfortunately, because they are picking up a new city just about every week, they want the new cities to hear their best stuff. Which means stuff we have all heard before. Remember, two weeks ago they weren't on in Seattle. Remember three or four weeks ago they werent on in DC. Since they have been syndicated, one city per week has been added, which means the other cities might never have heard the Richard Jenny phone call or the Stalker Patty/ Ron Jeremy bit or Sex for Sam 2. I think the repetitiveness will end now that they are on in pretty much all the cities they are going to be on.

It also worth noting that the show always sucks in August. They take two weeks off and before vacation, even before syndication, they kinda mailed it in. Remember all the shows they spent talking about the softball game? That was facinating stuff there.
