| Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01  | In my never ending asshole-ish quest to have all the "Official NHL Playoff Threads" and to fuck poor Banger over as king of Official Threads, I'm starting the thread where you can talk about the matchups and the games themselves. If you're curious, the matchups are all set for the first round: East 1 Boston v. 8 Montreal 2 Philadelphia v. 7 Ottawa 3 Carolina v. 6 New Jersey 4 Toronto v. 5 NY Islanders West 1 Detroit v. 8 Vancouver 2 Colorado v. 7 Los Angeles 3 San Jose v. 6 Phoenix 4 St Louis v. 5 Chicago 1. 94 Wins and NL East Title by the Mets this year 2. Hate the Braves with a passion 3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year 4. Mets win World Series 5. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | Damn you! I was going to start this thread. I hate you ;) The playoff match-ups look good. Very competitive. I'm dissapointed that the Pens, and Rangers didn't make it. But look how close it ended up being! Vancouver was in 5th last night, and now they are in 8th just because 2 other teams won, I believe. It really sucks how the Rangers are the only Original 6 team that didn't make the post season! | Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | Well, first game of playoffs underway, Devils already, just three minutes into the game, look like they are gonna anally rape the Canes. Irbe's had to make a couple of great saves already. Man, this ain't gonna be pretty. 1. 94 Wins and NL East Title by the Mets this year 2. Hate the Braves with a passion 3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year 4. Mets win World Series 5. Hopefully come up with a better name for the Crack Commitee than something the Mad Dog came up with. Come on! | ||||

I mean, even the Yankees couldn't pull that off in the World Series, you think the Canes can do it in the first round of the hockey playoffs against a team like that? And, I have to disagree that all the sucky games are tonight, cuz that Red Wing-Canuck game is looking good. I'm telling you, I think the Wings will win, but if they're gonna be picked off, it's in the first round, not having played meaningful hockey in 8 years, against the hottest team going into the playoffs. Hasek doesn't look like Hasek in Game 1. It's gonna be a struggle for the already coronated (by some) "champs." Philly-Ottawa does look ridiculously boring, though. The Devs just gotta hope he doesn't continue that throughout the series, though, or else the Canes can very easily get dominated like last night and win three more games in the series just based on goaltending, which is only the most important thing in playoff hockey. If he cools down like I expect he will, or if the Canes don't rattle off another win on Friday and get their confidence up and the Devs' confidence real low, then I still see the Devils coming out on top in this series. Oh yeah, and is it true that Toronto is gonna have ALOT of scratches tonight, including Corson, not to mention a goaltender who's playing but hasn't played hardly at all for the past few weeks in CuJo? | O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | Rage, turnes out the games tonight were not sucky at all. The Flyers one got a little boring (that's why I watched the Wings/Nucks game), but the OT was intense. Vancouver's OT was sick as well, fucking Sedin looking like it was the 20th OT goal he's scored, hardly even celebrating. The problem is if Yashin is gonna play at all. Groin injuries are not fun. As for Sundin, that's what Peca is for. Listen, when 2048 comes and the 54 years have passed for your next Stanley Cup, then you can brag again, ok? What's that you respond with? 1983? Hell, you didn't even build that team in '94, you just held a mid '80s Edmonton Oilers reunion party sans Gretzky, who you eventually got anyway! Sadly, you're trying to hold a 1994 Rangers reunion party for too long TODAY, which is your problem. But hey, you wanna keep Messier and Leetch and Richter to keep on NOT getting the job done just cuz they gave you a hard on 8 years ago, fine with me :-D I personally don't want the Islanders to have Nystrom playing still, but maybe it's cuz I don't think like a Ranger fan. As for now, I'm just happy that many Yankee fans are also Ranger fans so that way they can't say how "pathetic" Met fans were during the playoffs last year rooting against the Yanks, blah blah blah, cuz they're doing the same thing now. So, Ranger/ Yankee fans, I just would like to say, "Suck it" in lieu of anything better to say other than "the shoe is on the other foot now," or any other wacky phrase that'll get ME the horn. Hey speaking of which, someone should tell Shea Stadium to do the chicken dance. You think the Ranger phenomenon during Islander games is something? If someone made that chicken dance shit with the Yankees it would sweep the fucking nation of Yankee haters all around America. Da nananana da nananana da nananana THE YANK-EES SUCK! Oh yeah, and last night's game sucked. Not just cuz the Isles lost, but cuz the game was just boring to me. The second period was SOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOW and uneventful. I think with these two teams USUALLY playing exciting games, that will be the exception rather than the norm, at least I hope. Big game Saturday at 3 o'clock, though.
