O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I am now reading Insomnia by Steven King. I don't sleep much at night (similar problem I had back in college) and the last time, this book worked wonders for me. And now I am hoping it will do the same again. Anyone else know of a good book to help you sleep?? AIM: SkiT4you First Member of the JWO

Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | I have been reading a great book called "Hating Whitey" by David Horowitz. It's a political book that shows the hypocrisy of liberals in the media and the educational system by blaming the white man for all the problems inthe world. It's a great book. Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | Ikea - NICE! Another book I recommend highly is "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. Yeah yeah, required school reading, fuck that. Read it. It's beautiful, funny and incredibly moving. Someone else mentioned "A Confederacy of Dunces" awhile back in this thread. It's incredibly, piss-your-pants funny. An interesting point: The author's mother found the manuscript among his things after he'd committed suicide. Sure wish he hadn't. Besides the obvious reasons, the guy was a hell of a writer. I wish I could remember his name! I can't find the damn book right now. Anything by Huxley or Theroux is also highly recommended. Happy summer reading, all! "I teleported home one night With Ron and Sid and Meg. Ron stole Meggie's heart away And I got Sidney's leg." "Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that but not with all those flies and death and stuff." - singer Mariah Carey.

Psychopath Registered: Jul. 01 | I'll probably read Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card for like the 80th time. Can't get enough of that book. Right now I'm re-reading Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. If you like techno-age irreverant fiction, I highly recommend it.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Just read: "Catherdral" by Nelson DeMille. Fucking great book. One of those riveting page-turners that doesn't let you down. Made some train rides bearable this week. Demille has some great books: Gold Coast, Charm School, Plum Island, Without Honor, & Catherdral. Reading "Black Ice" by Michael Connelley, next.

Now I'm onto...I don't know, The Simpsons and Philsophy maybe. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I'm reading The Spirit In The Gene by Reg Morrison. Although it is for my lit class, it is really really a great book...but what it says is hard to swallow. Its all about how humans have destroyed the planet and have basically caused the 6th mass extinction the planet has seen. I haven't finished the book yet, but so far it really has made me take a look at my life and shudder. One shocking thing I read in there so far was that the average American, Australian or Western European uses as much energy anually as 120 people in Bangladesh..... Your mind won't let you say that you want me Your mind won't ever, never let you have what you want I feel your hunger to taste me Still your mind won't ever let you say Your kind is just the type that should use me But your mind won't seem to let you have The opportunity to abuse me, abuse me Your mind won't even let you feel Savor the addiction, savor the affliction, savor me
