I think he was just trying to be nice. All religions are "as personal as you make them". How I practice what I believe is always going to be different from others.

Bottom line, I can't see any reason that masturbation could be considered a sin in any religion. If I'm going to hell for masturbation, and some minger who has raped a child, or murdered a mother goes to heaven because "he asked for forgiveness" then why bother trying to be good?!!!
