Hopefully this is the first of many years where yankee fans will feel disappointment. Ill give them their props, they fought hard and were 2 outs away from winning again. But the DBacks deserved it, and THANK GOD THEY DID! They controlled the yanks throughout the series. And they make good champs. As a baseball fan, this is a good thing and i feel good. But as a Mets fan, I am feeling fucking great :). It also feels good when all of the tasks of the Crack Committee come to fruition. Look at the run they made from '49 to '53. After not winning the pennant in 54 (Indians won 111 games while the Yanks only won 103) they won 9 out of the next 10 pennants. The Yanks will regroup a bit. They have to find a replacement for O'Neill in right, they need to sign Giambi, get a capable reliever, and find a stopgap at third base to give Henson another year at Columbus. | Psychopath Registered: Aug. 01 | I have not been into baseball since the year the world series was cancelled due to the strike (1994). This World Series was good enough to get me to follow the sport again. I live near Philadelphia, so I really admire Schilling, although some Phillies fans hate him for some reason, I liked Mark Grace when he came up w/ the Cubs in '88, and I used to be a Giants fan and my favorite guy on the team was Matt Williams. It was good that the Yanks won all the games in NY. Jeter also was tough last night, playing hurt and making at least 2 spectacular plays. The ground ball Counsell hit and the amazing cut-off and throw to third and got Bautista. Overall, just great baseball. No one can complain, even Yankees fans. | Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | My two cents: Despite my feelings on the World Series, I'd have to say the stupidity falls on both sides. I've been a Mets fan my entire life. I've never held any grude against the Yankees. I rooted for them in 95 and was genuanly pissed when they got screwed in the Kingdump in the playoffs. The next season when I wore my Mets stuff around, I was shocked by how many Yankee fans would talk shit to me. I was like, "We're in two different leauges! Shouldnt you be worried about another team?" This was before interleague play, so I still never understood what the deal with that was. Next the "history" issue. The yankees have the most decorated and impressive history in all organized US sport. But to constantly throw that around is fucking ridiculous. I am sick of people saying "Mets suck, 26 World Championships baby" How many of those were in your lifetime jerkoff? In your parents lifetime? If you're my age, youve seen them win 4. I've seen my team win 1. Obviously, 4 is more impressive than 1, but there are plenty of other teams that you can compair a 4:1 ratio with, and screaming 26 is effing stupid. If you still dont agree, look at it from a different perspective. I am also a diehard Knicks fan. If some tard from Boston came up to me and said "Knicks suck, Celtics are the shit, 14+ championships baby, 9 in a row", I'd say "Uh, that was a REAL long time ago, the year is 2001, retard." Now lemmy attack some of my fellow Mets fans. I know many of you as well as myself self had dealt with PLENTY of abuse over the last few years from our American League cousins. But please dont be foolish enough to shout "Yankees suck" back. THEY DONT SUCK! I was watching the series last week when some of my friends at a party were screaming "Let's go D-backs, the fucking yankees blow." I wanna say "Hey man, OUR team is in Florida playing golf, THEIR team is in the World Series." Dont give us all a bad name by making remarks like that. If you gotta say something, try attacking there many (but not all) psudofans that beleive the term "back in the old days" refers to Jim Leyritz and Wade Boggs. What I'm basically trying to say here is that there is nothing wrong with a good rivalry. And not all Mets fans are uneducated Yankee haters. I rooted for the Yankees during the Series because I felt that the our great city needed it, plus many of my closest friend are true yankee fans who know they have more importanat things to worry about than a team in another league. In closing: Yankee fans, you've got a lot to be happy about. But don't fucking go out of your way to stop me on the street to tell me the Mets suck. You and your current team had absofuckinglutely nothing to do with 22 of your 26 Championships. Go hate boston, your real enemy. Mets fans, we didnt win anything this year. Our team didnt make the playoffs. I'm definatly not saying we gotta throw our Yankee hats on whenever the Mets lose. But don't go after Yankee fans by telling them their team sucks. They played a good series. If the Mets win 106 plus games next year, sweep the World Series and the Yankees win 28 games and dont make the playoffs, then the Yankee sucks chant will be appropriate. If your attacked, defend accordingly, but dont go out of your way to say something foolish that will only bring on more bashing to our team and fans. Besides, we gotta hate Atlanta. Sorry for the long reply, but I've really wanted to get this off my chest for quite sometime. Thanks for listening. And see you all in April. | Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | Well a couple of days have passed since the Series ended on a sad note for some of us. First and foremost for those who say well the yankees had a good run and this wasnt their year to win, I say PHOOEY to u. To me the Yankees should have won, there is no making excuses here, they got beat. However this brings me to my whole point here. Kudos to the D-backs. They beat the Yankees the only way that seemed impossible, and thats by beating Rivera, in the bottom of then ninth when the Yankees had the lead. For this reason I guess I am not about to slice my wrist after the loss. If game 7 had been a repeat of game 6 then things might be diffrent. U see, the way it happend the D-backs were forced to beat the best, and I am not just refering to the Yankees But to the best closer in post season history. He converted 23 or so saves without even breaking a sweat sometimes. This is what champions are all about. So I give them the credit they deserve eventhough I am still pissed off that the Yankees didnt win. With that said, I will have to say thanks to those Yankees haters who took it relativly easy on me. I know at times I came on strong with my PRO-YANKEES attitude as well as my hatred for the mets. However I think i am definatly in for a long winter as many people have 4 years of yankee hatered to release now... Even with the changes that are going to take place within the Yankee organization I look for them to be number one next year. They are gonna do a little rebuilding and yes, they will spend the money to make this happen. Well hats off to the D-backs once again, and I look foward to the moves that are to be made in the off season. lets all count the days to to spring training.  | ||||
