Um Ninny, he produced the song. Thats what he is, a producer. Just like Puffy, Jermaine Dupry, Timbaland, Dr Dre, Pharrel, etc etc etc. Your hate for him is just, but he actually does play a role.

OK now that i know that fine. I didn't know he was a Producer, even still the fact that you can Produce something shouldn't automatically land you vocals on the track.

I agree, but you can thank Puffy for that. Ever since the Flava in Ya Ear remix, every producer in the world feels he has a right to be on every song. I especially despise lil Jon. Its a shame, he does some innovative beats, but hes annoying as shit.
Nothing can be annoying as when I saw WuTang and one of their kids was up there shouting the last word to every line of every song. Carry on.
HB, in the rock/metal world, you are correct...producers pretty much stay in the production booth, never stepping up in front of the mic.

In the hip hop world...it's a different story.

Think about the longevity of the average rap artist as compared to the rock band. I love how certain rappers, after releasing only 3 albums, decide to "retire". Nevermind the fact that most rappers aren't looking for anything more than a few "hits" so they can "make der cheddah" and sport thier "bling bling". Some of these rappers then become full fledged producers. (ie. P. Diddy)

Another thing - ever notice the trend of how rappers bust out, do their thing but then have to get involved in bringing someone else into the scene? You get to see the former big star standing behind the neophyte rapper, in a display of support citing: "if y'all bitches liked my shit, peep my homies new shit right hurr...it's dah bomb diggity, yo...and shit". (see Snoop, Dre & Eminem for starters...)

Just the way it goes I guess. I'm not saying it's wrong or anything, just pointing some differences...

Hell, I know that if I can't make it as a performer, I'd love to be a producer.

<<<< heh. Smile
I long for the old days, back when they were all just picking cotton in the fields. Damn that cursed Emancipation Proclamation.
*ding ding ding!!* << yeah, that bell.

Oh the ill informed.

Puffy was a producer and label owner prior to rapping on ANY record. Biggie encourage his rapping. And he was a back up dancer prior to being a producer.

Artists bring out their own new artists for 2 reasons.

1)Theyre usually taking care of their boys in their crew, giving them the shot they were once given. Its called loyalty.

2)Producing and signing artists to your own record label is where the real money is. The money artists get for performing is nothing compared to what the record labels and producers get. Why do you think Dr Dre has started 3 record labels? Why do you think Eminem started shady Records? Thats where the real money is. Dr Dre is famous for saying "Your shit ain't sellin? Fuck it, get Dr. Dre on it
You got a budget? I'll get down, give me half of it
One session, one song, I'm gone
The first week, you hit the streets, a star is born" because one song from him can make someone famous if done correctly.
You know........it wouldn't be as bad as it is if they were actually somewhat good at rapping. Just because you're NOT a rapper to begin with doesn't mean you have to suck entirely.

And i've noticed the same thing with having 2 or 3 hits and then veering off and joining people that you bring to the game(Fifty Cent/G-Unit, Nelly/St. Lunatics,etc.). That i could give a shit less, they're obviously doing it because they know all theyre novelty has worn off, now it's time to exploit someone elses while you have the chance.

And occassionally you get a good song or two.
If people will keep buying shit, they will keep producing shit.
I don't buy anything without previewing it on Kazaa first.
you may, but there's entire generation out there that will happily injest anything spewed out the ass of the record companies. it's a business and everything is now wrapped up nicely and packaged up and spit out for mass consumption mostly without any substance. and the herd goes out and buys the merchandise and buys the albums as mtv and radio enables them to do.
