It's true. I got out of that game but flipping through my cds I saw several crappy purchases that were the result of hearing a snappy jingle on mtv years ago.

I long for the old days, back when they were all just picking cotton in the fields. Damn that cursed Emancipation Proclamation.

You know........it wouldn't be as bad as it is if they were actually somewhat good at rapping. Just because you're NOT a rapper to begin with doesn't mean you have to suck entirely.
And i've noticed the same thing with having 2 or 3 hits and then veering off and joining people that you bring to the game(Fifty Cent/G-Unit, Nelly/St. Lunatics,etc.). That i could give a shit less, they're obviously doing it because they know all theyre novelty has worn off, now it's time to exploit someone elses while you have the chance.
And occassionally you get a good song or two.

Oh the ill informed.
Puffy was a producer and label owner prior to rapping on ANY record. Biggie encourage his rapping. And he was a back up dancer prior to being a producer.
Quote:Artists bring out their own new artists for 2 reasons.
1)Theyre usually taking care of their boys in their crew, giving them the shot they were once given. Its called loyalty.
Quote:2)Producing and signing artists to your own record label is where the real money is. The money artists get for performing is nothing compared to what the record labels and producers get. Why do you think Dr Dre has started 3 record labels? Why do you think Eminem started shady Records? Thats where the real money is. Dr Dre is famous for saying \"Your shit ain't sellin? Fuck it, get Dr. Dre on it
You got a budget? I'll get down, give me half of it
One session, one song, I'm gone
The first week, you hit the streets, a star is born\" because one song from him can make someone famous if done correctly.

Did you read what I wrote? Its all about the money. And some producer/rappers arent bad. Dr Dre can flow with the best of them. I think Puffy is a decent rapper, even though most people think he sucks. He has ok metaphors and a decent flow.
