This might be the most productive thread on the board to date.

Vanity is damn ugly.

I'm going to need to play my Pink Floyd, live at the Fillmore West 1970 to clense myself of this thread.

I find live albums and bootlegs to be highly overrated. Dont get me wrong, I love going to shows, but that is something to be experienced.

What's to experience. Put on the headphones pop in the live cd and go stand on a crowded sidewalk in 105 degree heat. Same thing.
matters the band, I'd happily sell my family off to gypseys to aquire a live soundboard recording pre-Dark Side.

I didn't necessarily mean less than 5, then again i think throwing the number 5 in with that comment int he original post fucked my thinking pattern up.

Same here.

I'm overly compulsive with music to the fact that if a song isnt being performed live i expect it word for word, none of this throwing in shit from out of nowhere and skipping lines,etc..

At shows it's one thing because you're in the moment and enjoying it live but on a disk it's just annoying.
Eh, to me live show>studio album>live album.

well that's where you get to see the true artist/musician. Not that overproduced pop crap with singers that can't even perform live.
I know some great studio bands that absolutely blow live. Does that make them any less of a band?
some bands are better live however, live they will experiment and try out new things.

Examples: Ween, Dispatch, Floyd, Phish etc.

Other bands your better off with the studio version
garbage>phish
