Seems like a lot of people here go to shows pretty often. Post a review, make a comment, if you check out anything good! :thumbs-up:
Halfway to Gone/Nebula/Nashville Pussy
Stone Pony 6/5/02
HOLY SHIT! My ears are still ringing from the show...and too beers. If you EVER hear about Halfway to Gone playing in your area, don't hesitate, just go check them out! I’m going to try my hand at a review, but I usually suck at writing these things, especially with such a hangover…
I was there mainly to see Halfway to Gone (the opener), I was slightly familiar with Nebula but had never heard Nashville Pussy...$5 for 3 bands, you can't beat that!
HtG just slayed, full of more energy and just that certain something that rocks your world---I really hope that these guys will go somewhere, they’re too good not to. I can’t say too many good things about them. Think Sabbath with Duane Allman on the guitar. Jersey-fueled heavy whiskey rock, dirty Southern boogie jam, drinkin and smokin music, with the power of the riff compelling them. And these guys are also the nicest dudes, I even got a song dedicate to me! They played a really long set for an opener, about 9 songs, and the crowd (of sadly about 30-40 when they came on) got really into them.
Check out some Halfway to Gone mp3's
Nebula was a cool little space trip, blues-based sexy trippy riffs. The singer sounded a lot like Fu Manchu’s singer, the jams are Zepplin-esque. They’re a 3-piece band with a tight rhythm section. I definitely started getting into them by the middle of their set, they also had cool smoke machines. I liked them, they were just missing something, couldn’t figure out what…maybe a little bit of originality…
Which is what was also missing from Nashville Pussy. Their guitarist Ruyter is Angus Young with tits (a nice set too---she took off her shirt and played in her bra most of the set) besides that, she plays fast and hard and totally rocks out playing. I love watching guitarists head bang and thrash around, getting really into what they’re doing. They definitely were pulling out the ACDC heavy rock vibe. The new bassist was competent, but not as showy as the I’ve heard their former one was, spitting fire and stomping guys in the head, but she was another hot chick. All in all, Nashville Pussy was good, their set a little too long…their best songs I heard were “Keep on Fucking” and "You Give Drugs a Bad Name" they were pretty cool. I wouldn’t go out of my way just to see them, though.
ps, this is the guitarist from Nashville Pussy

Shooting Star
Bad Company
Johnny was a school boy when he heard his first Beatles song
Love Me Do, I think it was and from there it didn't take long
Got himself a guitar, used to play every night
Now he's in a rock & roll outfit, and everything's all right
Don't you know?
Johnny told his Momma, Hey Momma I'm goin' away
I'm gonna hit the big time, gonna be a big star someday
Momma came to the door with a tear drop in her eye
Johnny said, Don't cry Momma smile & wave goodbye
Don't you know, whoa, whoa
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know, whoa, whoa
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
And all the world will love you just as long
As long as you are
Johnny made a record, went straight up to number one
Suddenly everyone loved to hear him play his song
Watching the world go by, surprisin' it goes so fast
Johnny looked around him and said, Hey, I made the big time at last
Don't you know, whoa, whoa, whoaaa
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know,
Don't you know that you are a shooting star,
And all the world will love you just as long
As long as you are
(guitar solo)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
And all the world will love you just as long
As long as you are
Johnny died one night, died in his bed
Bottle of whiskey, sleepin' tablets by his head
Johnny's life passed him by like a warm summer day
If you listen to the wind sometime, you can still hear him play
Don't you know, whoa, whoa, whoaaa
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you know, don't you--
Don't you know that you are a shooting star
Don't you, don't you, don't you, don't you, don't you know
Don't you know you are a shooting star
(Na na na... etc...)

Nothing is random, nor will anything ever be, whether a long string of perfectly blue days that begin and end in golden dimness, the most seemingly chaotic political acts, the rise of a great city, the crystalline structure of a gem that has never seen the light, the distributions of fortune, what time the milkman gets up, the position of the electron, or the occurence of one astonishingly frigid winter after another. Even electrons, supposedly the paragons of unpredictability, are tame and obsequious little creatures that rush around at the speed of light, going precisely where they are supposed to go. They make a faint whistling sounds that when apprehended in varying combinations are as pleasant as the wind flying through a forest, and they do exactly as they are told. Of this, one can be certain.
And yet, there is a wonderful anarchy, in that the milkman chooses when to arise, the rat picks the tunnel into which he will dive when the subway comes rushing down the track from borough hall, and the snowflake will fall as it will. How can this be? If nothing is random, and everything is predetermined, how can there be free will? The answer to that is simple. Nothing is predetermined; it is determined, or was determined, or will be determined. No matter, it all happened at once, in less than an instant, and time was invented because we cannot comprehend in one glance the enormous and detailed canvas that we have been given- so we track it, in linear fashion, piece by piece. Time, however, can be easily overcome; not by chasingthe light, but by standing back far enough to see it all at once. The universe is still and complete. Everythin that ever was, is; everything that will ever be, is- and so on, in allpossible combinations. Though in perceiving it we imagine that it is in motion, and unfinished, it is quite finished and quite astonishingly beautiful. In the end, or, rather, as things really are, any event, no matter how small, is intimately and sensibly tied to all others. All rivers run full to the sea; those who are apart are brought together; the lost ones are redeemed; the dead come back to life; the perfectly blue days that have begun and ended in golden dimness continue, immobile and accesible; and, when all is perceived in such a way as to obviate time, justice becomes apparent not as something that will be, but as something that is.

asking too much
i want somebody who sees the pointlessness
and still keeps their purpose in mind
i want somebody who has a tortured soul
some of the time
i want somebody who will either put out for me
or put me out of misery
or maybe just put it all to words
and make me go, you know
i never heard it put that way
make me say, what did you just say?
i want somebody who can hold my interest
hold it and never let it go
someone who can flatten me with a kiss
that hits like a fist
or a sentence, that stops me like a brick wall
if you hear me talking
listen to what i'm not saying
if you hear me playing guitar
listen to what i'm not playing
and don't ask me to put words
to all the silences i wrote
don't ask me to put words
to all the spaces between notes
in fact if you have to ask, forget it
do and you'll regret it
i'm tired of being the interesting one
i'm tired of having fun for two
just lay yourself on the line
and i might lay myself down by you
but don't sit behind your eyes
and wait for me to surprise you
i want somebody who can make me
scream until it's funny
give me a run for my money
i want someone who can
twist me up in knots
tell me, for the woman who has everything
what have you got?
i want someone who's not afraid of me
or anyone else
in other words i want someone
who's not afraid of themself
do you think i'm asking too much?

You try too hard. Sometimes you're funny, but most of the time it looks too forced. Be more natural. I'm sure you'll say funny stuff as time goes on. You keep on changing your "personality" around here, and it's getting tiresome. Pick one and be done with it. Jeesh.
Oh yeah, and Seph says more funny stuff in one post than you've said since you joined.
