the running into the kicker call was bullshit,
to have the game decided on an incidental bump like that was crap.

Has anyone else seen this movie? It opened everywhere this weekend. I saw it yesterday, and its probably the best new movie that i've seen in about 2 years. Its written well, and every principle actor does an amazing job.

It also has one of the greatest monologues I've ever seen on film, Ed Norton's "Fuck You" montage to himself in the mirror.

This movie is great because it doesn't try to make this guy sympathetic or right, he was a drug dealer and deserved to get caught and go to jail. It just tells a great story abut a guy's last day as a free man.

Go see this movie.

  Johnny Tapia on life support
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 01-12-2003, 07:19 AM - Forum: SportsCenter - Replies (1)

Former 5 time world champion Johnny Tapia is on life support. Seems he slipped into a coma after falling down backwards at home. As many hits as tapia has taken to that head in his career looks like probably the trauma was too much.

He's unable to breathe on his own and was placed on life support last night I think.

Tapia was in the news last week for a confrontation with the cops, he was found with drug paraphenalia but wasn't arrested.

Tapia is one of the best and exciting fighters under 130 pounds, ever. His hall of fame ballot has been signed several times over in his career. He's on the tail end of his career now. Especially after his loss to Marco Antonio Barrera a few months ago.

It would be sad to see a man who fought for his life in and out of the ring, die so suddenly when he was just begining a new life after boxing.

... Maurice Gibb passes on... - Disco is truely dead...
Posted by: The Jays - 01-12-2003, 07:05 AM - Forum: Noise Pollution - Replies (10)

Quote:MIAMI BEACH, Florida -- Bee Gee Maurice Gibb died in hospital on Sunday, his family said.

The 53-year-old had been in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a heart attack during an operation to remove an intestinal blockage after he collapsed at his Florida home last week.

A statement released by his family said: "It is with great sadness and sorrow that we regretfully announce the passing of Maurice Gibb.

"His love and enthusiasm and energy for life remain an inspiration to all of us. We will all deeply miss him."

His wife Yvonne and his two children had been with him at the Mount Sinai Medical Centre in Miami since the surgery on Thursday night.

Maurice plays bass and keyboard for the group, whose name is short for the Brothers Gibb.

The Bee Gees -- Maurice, Robin and their older brother Barry -- have lived in South Florida since the late 1970s. Their younger brother, Andy, who had a successful solo career, died in 1988 at age 30 from a heart ailment.

Known for their close harmonies and original sound, the Bee Gees are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and their 1977 contributions to the "Saturday Night Fever" album made it the best selling movie soundtrack ever. Among their disco hits on that album are "Stayin' Alive," "More Than a Woman" and "How Deep Is Your Love."

They also had hits in other genres, including the haunting "New York Mining Disaster 1941" and "I Started a Joke."

The group won seven Grammy Awards together. The Bee Gees last album was in 2001, titled "This Is Where I Came In."

Everything posted here in the last 2 days with the exception of some pm's has been unbelievably disappointing. I haven't laughed at any of you. The highlight of my last 2 days here was 10 minutes alone in Cell 1.

Must be the weekend. & maybe the fact that everything moves in slow motion with Arpi in lockdown. Everyone rises to unforeseen summits of creativity to insult Arpi.

I've nothing of worth to contribute myself either. You've left me uninspired. After all I went through to make it through the week, this is probably an actionable breach of contract on all-youses parts.

Sounds like he's full of shit to me. I'll give him credit, though, his excuse is very creative. Wonder if he has Pee Wee Herman's number in his rolodex...
