CDIH CHALLENGE #1 - FIRE UP THAT PHOTOSHOP!
Posted by: Jack - 10-02-2002, 06:16 AM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (216)

Ok. In an ongoing effort to provide you photoshop users with something to do to fill your ever boring day, here is a challenge to you.

Anyone remember the All Your Base picture edits where they inserted the term "All your base are belong to us" and made it look like it belonged on the picture? This is similar.

We want to see pictures of the same type of thing except with the term "Cold Day In Hell" or "CDIH" or "CDIH.NET"

The best ones will get the satisfaction of the ooo's and aah's of your peers here on the board.

Good luck and I look forward to the entries.

EDIT: If you have no idea wtf I am talking about... Click Here
Be warned though that it may take a minute to load.

Record players - Kickin it old school
Posted by: Keyser Soze - 10-02-2002, 02:49 AM - Forum: Noise Pollution - Replies (31)

I went shopping for a receiver or something to plug my record player into which turned out to be a pretty disappointing experience. It seems that most of the receivers today don't support Phono anymore, except for the pricier ones. I wound up buying a mini system hoping i could plug it into the Aux channel but lo and behold it comes out extremely low. Record players have a ground wire that needs to hook up as well, which the mini system I bought has no hookup for.

Any suggestions on a decent receiver under $200 for my record player? If it comes with speakers as well, even better.

Fuck boomer! - Those of you who get it...get it
Posted by: slackjaw - 10-01-2002, 11:43 PM - Forum: Über Geek Zone - Replies (1)

That fucking useless piece of shit. More often than not the rat bastard gets in my way more than he helps. I am tired of worrying about his straggling ass when he takes a few hits.... anymore, I just let the fag die. Hell, every so often he pisses me off so much that I turn around and shoot him myself.

Case in point, the beginning of the damned island hopping mission in Thailand. I very carefully sneak from hide point to hide point, making sure i am not seen by the patrol, when all of the sudden BAM! we are spotted.... why you ask? because the stupid fucker was, as usual, too far behind and got spotted. No worries, a few quick shots later and he lay drowning in the shallow water.

I ask you....why, when I am going out of my way to be silent and not be spotted by the guard in the boat, do I hear loud splashes echoing through the river? One guess.... dumb ass Boomer. Then, when I finally get to a perfect position to ambush the unsuspecting guard patrolling near the hut, Boomer decides to sit his retarded ass down right in the middle of the path, with his back to the guard HE just alerted me to. Luckily, the Riddah patrol saw him and wiped him out....sure, my clean insertion was blown, but Boomer got fucked up, so i felt much better.

I swear to god the next time I am stealthily creeping up on an unsuspecting sentry and Boomer opens fire I will kill him myself!

Of course, one of these days i will have my adapter and can stop playing single player, ridding myself once and for all of Boomer.

Nobody beats the wiz - Oops, nevermind.
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 10-01-2002, 10:25 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (65)

After all the years of proclaiming, 'nobody beats the wiz'. The wiz has been beaten. I heard that they had their dvd's at like 40% off, so I decided to go down yesterday. All 8 Wiz's in my neigborhood are closed down, seems sunday was the last day. Now all I got is a fuckin sam goody at the mall, they opened up a place down the block by me. It's way too expensive though now that the wiz is gone. They jacked up all their prices, they are charging retail for everything now. Even their cd's are at like 19.95 and up. Last week they had american history x for 19.95, now it's 27.95 on dvd.

The last of hogan? - Andre memorial
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 10-01-2002, 10:14 PM - Forum: The Faggy Artistic Forum - Replies (4)

It was announced yesterday that Hulk Hogan had confirmed that he no longer had a contract with WWE and that he was working for the company based on a “handshake” deal with Vince McMahon that only required him to work a list of dates, in which he did. However today, Hogan has confirmed these rumors to be accurate and says that he has not been in contact with anyone in WWE for several weeks.

These stories do not necessarily mean that we have seen the last of Hogan as many expect Hogan to return when his soon-to-be-released autobiography goes up for sale, but his salary will have to be worked out with Vince McMahon before that happens. Hogan also has a storyline in which the WWE creative team can work him into a feud with Brock Lesnar as he was the last person beating on Hogan before his absence from the company.

However, when and if Hogan returns to WWE all depends on what kind of money that the Hulkster will be making as that is how his last fall out with Vince McMahon happened over the tour in Australia. WWE officials have said that they cannot afford to pay Hogan an outrageous salary simply because his physical condition will not allow him to fight the kind of matches that the top WWE wrestlers should be fighting.

According to an article published today by Reuters news service, the daughter of Andre the Giant has asked WWE to honor the tenth anniversary of her father's death at WrestleMania XIX. "It seems like they don't honor him," Robin Christensen (Andre’s daughter), 23, said of WWE and her father.

Vince McMahon responded in the article by saying: "We honor Andre's memory almost every day," he went on to say, "Hardly a day goes past where we don't think and/or talk about Andre, but nothing specific (was planned) for WrestleMania."

Mother teresa to be sainted - Lets saint pol pot next
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 10-01-2002, 10:08 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (21)

Mother Teresa's sainthood is almost wrapped up, I also just lost my lunch. It fuckin sickens me on how much credit this cunt got. Sainthood? please, give me a break already. These are the same people who made Princess Diana a fuckin saint in their eyes. Diana was an overpaid and over glorfied spoiled housewife. She visited hospitals, what the fuck else was she gonna do? Not like she had to work, or worry about money. Yet no one praises the doctors who work for close to nothing in these impoverished countries to save these peoples lives, diana holds up a baby and she is a saint.

Mother Teresa's so called santuaries were nothing but over glorified concentration camps. Look at some of the pictures, no cots, no chairs, nothing, just sad people standing around, looking lost. She recieved millions, hundreds of millions in aid. Yet she built not hospitals, when she was sick she made sure she had the best and finest care available. There were no accounts nor records kept of the millions she recieved. She was anti-abortion, yet didn't see the connection between over population and poverty.

I dunno maybe it is me, but sainthood? Seriously lets just saint pol pot next. Hitler rebuilt germany to some of its highest peaks after the depression, Saint Adolph has a nice ring to it.

Valentine fired - Poor bobby v

Quote:Mets Give Valentine the Boot
After Disastrous Season

By HAL BOCK
.c The Associated Press

NEW YORK (Oct. 1) -- Manager Bobby Valentine was fired by the New York Mets on Tuesday, two days after they finished last in the National League East and two seasons after the team reached the World Series.

The team put together a $95 million payroll last winter, bringing in Roberto Alomar, Mo Vaughn, Roger Cedeno and others, but it struggled all year and was embarrassed by accusations last month that at least seven players were smoking marijuana this season.

"We put very good players in place who didn't play very well. It's best to jump-start and get a manager to motivate these players and get the best out of the veterans and the young players,'' owner Fred Wilpon said at a news conference.

"I believe these guys are as good as we all thought they were. We thought it was a very competitive team. We still believe they're very competitive, but we were disappointed, and I think the players will be far, far better next year.''

Wilpon, who had insisted late in the season that he planned to keep Valentine, said he met the manager Tuesday morning to inform him of the decision.

"For me, this is a painful decision following a very painful season,'' he said earlier in a statement.

Wilpon said a search for Valentine's successor will begin immediately.

Valentine just finished the second year of a three-year contract, and the Mets will be responsible for his 2003 salary of about $2.7 million.

The Mets finished 75-86, in last place in the NL East for the first time since 1993 and below .500 for the first time in six years. In his six-plus seasons with the Mets, Valentine was 536-467, reaching the playoffs in 1999 and 2000.

"I believe it's the right move for the organization,'' general manager Steve Phillips said.

"We all knew we were being evaluated. We all accept a level of responsibility for that failure. It goes to performance on the field. I tend to agree that we didn't get the most out of the players on the field.''

Valentine is the fourth manager to be fired since Sunday, the last day of the regular season.

The Chicago Cubs dismissed Bruce Kimm on Sunday, while Hal McRae of Tampa Bay and Luis Pujols of Detroit lost their jobs Monday.

There were eight other managerial changes during the season.

The Mets went into the season with talk of making the playoffs after Phillips revamped the roster. But the team played uninspired baseball almost from the start and there were a number of embarrassments.

"We didn't play the game as well as we should have,'' Valentine said near the end of the season. "Because of that, I second-guess everything I did. That's totally my responsibility.''

The Mets played poor fundamental baseball and were shaken by off-the-field turmoil. Slugger Mike Piazza was questioned about his sexual orientation, and Alomar and Cedeno engaged in a shoving match in the dugout.

There was a public feud and lawsuit between Wilpon and his former partner and co-owner, Nelson Doubleday. Former Mets player Keith Hernandez said the team quit and then apologized for the remark, and finally came the drug report.

Newsday reported last month that seven Mets smoked marijuana during the season, although the newspaper said Tuesday that Wilpon's decision was based on the team's performance in the past two seasons.

The trouble ran all through the roster.

Vaughn took half a season to find his rhythm after missing all of 2001 with an injury. Alomar, a Gold Glove second baseman, made 11 errors, never looked comfortable in the field, and hit a career-low .266.

Cedeno only managed 25 steals, Shawn Estes went 4-9 before being traded, and Jeromy Burnitz had one good month and hit .215.

The Mets were 13th in the league in runs, had the most errors in the majors with 144, and looked nothing like the team that won the NL pennant just two years ago.

Despite all the troubles, the Mets were in contention after winning 11 of 16 games to end July just 4 1/2 games out of the wild-card lead.

Then came one of the worst months in team history. New York had a 12-game losing streak and didn't win a game at Shea Stadium in August -- part of an NL-record 15-game home losing streak.

Well i guess somone has to take the blame for ending the season in last place.

A magazine recently ran a "Dilbert Quotes" contest. They were looking for
people to submit quotes from their real life Dilbert-type managers. Here are

"Doing it right is no excuse for not meeting the schedule."

Manufacturing/3M Corp.)

My sister passed away and her funeral was scheduled for Monday. When I told

the busiest day of the year. He then asked if we could change her burial to
Friday. He said, "That would be better for me." (Shipping executive, FTD
Florists)
***********************
"We know that communication is a problem, but the company is not going to
discuss it with the employees." (Switching supervisor, AT&T Long Lines

***********************
We recently received a memo from senior management saying: "This is to
inform you that a memo will be issued today regarding the memo mentioned
above." (Microsoft, Legal Affairs Division)

One day my Boss asked me to submit a status report to him concerning a
project I was working on. I asked him if tomorrow would be soon enough. He
said, "If I wanted it tomorrow, I would have waited until tomorrow to ask
for it!" (New business manager, Hallmark Greeting Cards.)
***********************
As director of communications, I was asked to prepare a memo reviewing our
company's training programs and materials. In the body of the memo in one of
the sentences I mentioned the "pedagogical approach" used by one of the
training manuals.
The day after I routed the memo to the executive committee, I was called
into the HR director's office, and told that the executive vice president
wanted me out of the building by lunch. When I asked why, I was told that
she wouldn't stand for perverts (pedophiles?) working in her company.
Finally, he showed me her copy of the memo, with her demand that I be fired
and the word "pedagogical" circled in red.
The HR manager was fairly reasonable, and once he looked the word up in his
dictionary and made a copy of the definition to send back to her, he told me
not to worry. He would take care of it.
Two days later, a memo to the entire staff came out directing us that no
words which could not be found in the local Sunday newspaper could be used
in company memos.
A month later, I resigned. In accordance with company policy, I created my
resignation memo by pasting words together from the Sunday paper. (Taco Bell
Corporation)
