Wwe news & notes july 1st.
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 07-02-2002, 05:33 AM - Forum: The Faggy Artistic Forum - Replies (7)

- On Saturday, Bret Hart's condition became slightly more promising when he was able to wiggle a toe. This was considered to be a major improvement, although it appears that it will be a grueling ordeal for Bret, nevertheless.

- Summerslam tickets are on sale on 7/27 at 10 a.m. in New York. The pay per view itself will emanate from the Nassau Coliseum on 8/25.

- Despite the fact that the Vengeance commercial features Steve Austin prominently, it provides no indication that he will be returning for the event. Incidentally, the commercial was filmed months in advance, therefore it is still impossible to predict whether or not a reconciliation will ever be reached between Steve Austin and WWE.

- Former WCW commentator Mark Madden recently wrote an article in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, pointing out reasons why he feels WWE is headed in the same direction that WCW took before it died. He mentions that Stone Cold Steve Austin left the company, The Rock has put wrestling on the back burner while he pursues his wrestling career, has-beens clogging up the television time, such as Hulk Hogan and the Undertaker, the storylines are stupid and ridiculous, pleasing a handful of Internet insiders rather than the ample of fans who matter. Madden states that the boss’ daughter and a man who ran his wrestling promotion into bankruptcy head the creative team. Madden stated that Kurt Angle should be the top star in WWE, simply because he’s that good.

Paul Heyman was reportedly strongly against bringing the Rock back early due to a detailed plan which had been set up, involving Brock Lesnar and The Rock, that was supposed to play out upon The Rock's original return date in July.

Brock Lesnar seems to have settled down backstage since Curt Hennig was fired a couple of months ago. Before Hennig was fired, Lensar had been picking up some of his bad locker-room habits, including ribbing other wrestlers. Some wrestlers were taking offense to Lesnar's ribs.

Some of the wrestlers are worried about Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels gaining more "power" while Vince McMahon has been busy dealing with the Steve Austin situation.

A new fish for the hole
Posted by: Sean Cold - 07-02-2002, 03:51 AM - Forum: Cell #1 - Replies (40)

As his first act as a temp mod who took our dear old Seph's place after he quit because he couldn't take a ripping, Austin has decided that Seph should be in the hole. And, to make Arpi happy, it has been decided that he will spend the next week in here.

Sports memorobilia - A little help
Posted by: DGW - 07-01-2002, 07:06 PM - Forum: SportsCenter - Replies (8)

I've come into a bunch of sports memorobilia. Including autographed balls and photos, sets of cards as well as individuals cards. Ranging from Mantle, Williams, and Gehrig balls and photos to rookie card like those of McGwire , Griffey, Clemens, Patrick Roy and others. I was looking to catalog all these items. I was wondring if anyone had suggestions as to how to keep track of the cards and there prices. Is it possible to do it in Excel? Or do you know of a better way? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to sell these items sooner then later. Thanx.

Allow an old man to vent for a minute - The ramblings of a patriotic old fart.
Posted by: OAS - 07-01-2002, 06:08 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (83)

Please allow the old man a rant and rave here for a moment. Allow me to seize the opportunity to make a statement in advance of our nations 226th birthday. In a way this is depressing because it is showing off my age, but I have to get this off my chest. Seeing as many accuse us here of not having any spirited discussions, let’s have it.

You children are pissing me off! I can’t believe the disrespect that I’m hearing here about love of country. It’s ironic that I can go back to the 9/11 threads on oa.com and read the outpouring of fear and patriotism many of you wrote during those days. Patriotism shouldn’t be a trend that you jump on the bandwagon for because of a recent event.

The interesting posts of 9/11 were the fear posts. You should have been fearful. Your fear was for your immediate safety. But underlying in that fear was your nation was under attack. The freedoms you enjoy, the ideals of which this nation was founded, were being assaulted. A silent, hidden enemy was attacking the very foundation of everything you have enjoyed all of your lives. And they were attacking you, simply and only because you are American. An America that stands for and protects the ideals of freedom everywhere. Whether you agree with our foreign policy or not, the basis of everything we do around the world is to defend a persons right for freedom. FREEDOM say it over and over again. FREE FUCKING DOM!. We all have it, others would die trying to experience it. Thousands have died and will continue to die to defend it.

I will give you your arguments about why you were expected to say the pledge because they were just meaningless words to you. But what stopped you from learning the meaning? And I agree with the principal that the government was probably wrong in adding the words “under God” in 1954, but that shouldn’t lessen the oath and allegiance to the country defending the principals it stand for.

I have lived through the Cuban missile crisis, where we were ready to destroy the world before we would give into communism, regardless of how ludicrous that sounds, we couldn’t back down. I lived through the Vietnam era and served in the military during that time. I never had to make up anything to a Vietnam vet because I never looked down on them. Their nation called and they served. To me, there was never anything wrong in what they did. I served in covert missions that to this day I cannot openly discuss, because it was the right thing to do when I was called on to do it. I have taken the life of others in those missions, to defend freedom. Maybe it is because I have looked an enemy in the eye knowing the last thing he saw was an American defending our principals that make me feel this way, and maybe it is because I’m becoming that crazy patriotic old man that you youngsters laugh at.

OK, flame away. Tell me I’m wrong. Tell me to shut up. Someday it may make sense to you. Thanks for letting me vent. God bless America!

And yes I respect your right to disagree and voice a negative opinion about the country. Doesn’t mean I don’t get pissed about it. Carry on!

Video editing - Anybody now anyhting about it?
Posted by: Arthur Dent - 07-01-2002, 06:07 PM - Forum: Über Geek Zone - Replies (8)

I've got a video capture card on my PC and a nice digital camcorder (well, one I can borrow anyway). So, I've been thinking of doing some amature video editing for my own amusement.

Anybody try this? Any good software packages for the PC, preferably free?

Serial ata - The death knell for scsi?
Posted by: AdolescentMasturbator - 07-01-2002, 05:56 PM - Forum: Über Geek Zone - Replies (26)

For those of you that don't know Serial ATA is going to be the successor to the current ATA/66, ATA/100, ATA/133 shit. It's going to be the standard for optical drives(cdrom, cd burner), and hard drives. The reason I'm excited about it is it supposed to give SCSI a run for its money. Right now the first revision isn't going to be way faster. But the first revision will get rid of master/slave bullshit and will make the interface more intelligent. The 3rd revision is rumored to be 450 MB/S :::drool:::. First Serial ATA hard drives ship next month.

So the question is. How long before you will succumb and sell your soul for Serial ATA?

  Clutch tour!!!
Posted by: Maynard - 07-01-2002, 04:45 PM - Forum: Noise Pollution - Replies (17)

They've added some more US tour dates for this summer/fall.

07/23/02 Crocodile Rock Allentown, PA
07/24/02 Crowbar State College, PA
08/16/02 Tradewinds Sea Bright, NJ
08/17/02 Trocadero Philadelphia, PA

I'm gonna go to the Tradewinds show for sure. It's a Friday night. And I think I'm gonna do the Allentown show too. It's only about 45-1 hour from me.

Sluggo and Moron, you'd better fucking be there!

And spit, you can make the Tradewinds show!!!

DO NOT MISS CLUTCH LIVE!!! They are 100 times heavier and more rockin than their albums. The studio doesn't do them justice.

  Petition to stop ken
Posted by: Maynard - 07-01-2002, 04:21 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (27)

I think if we raise awareness on the threat of threads started by Ken's Pen, people won't be fooled by his act.

I start this petition in efforts to get people to stop replying to Ken's threads. With no reply's to Ken's threads, and Arpi being gone, we can have some peace and quiet this week. Maybe even have some interesting conversations.

Just vote NO ON KEN!
