Today on YMB, well actually, last night something that may be drama and may be golden age occurred.

Grkqtoandafan signed on as a new member and Metalfan began posting again.

This intrigues me.

The Definitive 2004 Best Album List
Posted by: Keyser Soze - 01-20-2005, 05:47 AM - Forum: Noise Pollution - Replies (70)

From AmysRobot.com

Every "Top Ten Albums of 2004" List on the Planet

Our friend Greg has exhaustively compiled the Top Albums lists of pretty much every publication in the universe to bring you this Mega List. He even aggregated the data and assigned each album a score based on its standing on all the lists. Following that is his own personal Top 20 Albums list, and following that is the raw data from over 50 American and international "top 10" lists. While we might not personally share all of Greg's views on this year's music (for example, I think the new Streets albums is a lot better than the first one, and Interpol and Swayzak would probably appear on my list), we really like his style. Here's Greg:

As some of you know, I like lists. And music. So here's what I foolishly spent 10 hours doing this weekend. First I compiled 60 end-of-the-year top-10 lists. These were culled from major (and some minor) music magazines, webzines and newspapers, mostly from the States and Europe (specifically, I included 23 American lists, 10 British, 8 German, 5 Italian, 2 Dutch, 2 French, 2 Spanish, 2 Swedish, 1 Australian, 1 Canadian, 1 Croatian, 1 Mexican, 1 Norwegian and 1 Polish.) These are included below, too, in case you're interested. Most were sourced from Acclaimed Music.

All in all, this represents a pretty good slice of all the music criticism out there. None of these lists were made by individual people (e.g. Christgau or blogsters); they were all tallied from editors/ publishers/ contributors polls conducted by each publication. Also, all had to be ranked lists (thus I didn't include AllMusic or Rolling Stone, though I did use them to settle ties.) Then I just awarded 1 point for each 10th place listing, 2 points for each 9th place listing, and so on up to 10 points for each 1st place listing.

So here's the final list. I'm not sure if it offers any surprises or not, but enjoy. Following the list, I offer you something even more valuable: my list of the year's best albums.

The Collated List (# of points in parentheses):

50. Razorlight – s/t (13)

  Java Log!!! - Explained
Posted by: Black Lazerus - 01-20-2005, 02:04 AM - Forum: O&A General Show Discussion - Replies (14)

I know there have been mentions of this item mentioned on the show..... so here it is.

One night him and a friend of O&A's named Jay (not Jay Mohr) were hanging out. They decided to just stay at Opie's place and watch the Survivor finale. Opie got out some wine and cheese and decided to get nice and comfy and changed into his PJs. So there he was, with Jay in his PJs thinking no one would ever see them so he wasn't worried about the fact that it looked like a scene out of a gay porno. So Opie thought he would start a fire in his fireplace that he had never used before. He used a Java Log to make the fire. A Java Log is like a DuraFlame log but while it burns it emits the smell of freshly brewed coffee. So Now there's a lil' fire going in the fire place, Ope is in his PJs, their drinking wine and eating cheese. Well the flue was stuck closed and it started to get smokey in the house. Jay noticed the smoke and said something to Ope and Ope decided to take the log out of the fire place and throw it in the back yard. When he tried to move it, the log fell apart and really started burning, causing a lot of thick, black smoke to pour in the apartment. As Jay and Ope tried to put out the fire and clear the smoke out, they heard a banging on the door. Jay asked if he should get it and Ope, not knowing who could be stopping by at that time, told him to answer the door. Jay opens the door and there are a group of firefighters in full gear ready to battle a roaring blaze. They walk into the house and find out it was just the Java log and notice the wine and cheese and see Ope standing there in his PJs with Jay so they get on their radios and call it a false alarm. You know the firefighters were just thinking it was a couple of gay guys having a romantic night. Needless to say it was rather embarrasing for poor Opie.

Norton Plays The Lobster Card On Air
Posted by: Keyser Soze - 01-19-2005, 11:21 PM - Forum: O&A General Show Discussion - Replies (112)

O&A Uncensored

After getting seriously ribbed on air by Opie and Anthony, the always completely uncensored Norton decided to call Ant out in a not so veiled way during todays show.

Opie and Anthony were discussing Norton's off air shit, basically putting him in the barrel. Norton responded with, "Hey, we could always talk about Ant's love for Lobster Bisque." Op and Ant roared, and the topic was quickly dropped.

Anyone have the audio isolated?
