  Boxing This Weekend

It's a pretty decent card, I dunno if it's PPV worthy but it's actually a marquee card from top to bottom. FYI it is actually a PPV.

Main Event: James Toney Vs. Evander Holyfield.

Co- Main Event: Bernard Hopkins Vs. William Joppy

Undercard: Diego Corrales Vs. Joel Casamayor.

Ofcourse Holyfield is as ancient and pathetic as they get but his name still draws, it might be a good fight or the saddest thing ever witnessed since Holmes Vs. Ali.

Hopkins Vs. Joppy is by far the best fight on the card, it's for the undisputed Middleweight title. Joppy was involved in the tourny which culminated with Hopkins Vs. Trinidad, in which Hopkins gave his career performance. Joppy Lost to trinidad for the shot at Hopkins.

Diego Corrales is on the comeback trail after his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is an awesome fighter with sick punching power and now that Floyd has moved up to 135, Corrales may finally get his shot to rule at 130. Joel Casamayor is also a great fighter and one of the most destructive fighters in the sport, this fight could be a main even all by itself.

  Elia Kazan Dead
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 10-01-2003, 05:59 AM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (1)

One of the finest directors to ever walk the earth, Elia Kazan is dead at 94 years of age.

Kazan was the premire director of all the "method" actors that broke out in the 50's and was a pioneer of the actors studio which taught everyone from Brando, James Dean, Paul Newman and Monty Clift.

He won 2 oscars for direction, 1st for gentlemans agreement and 2nd for On The Waterfront.

He directed made Brando into an Icon with Streetcar named desire. He directed everyone from James Cagney to Robert DeNiro.

some of his films include

"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," 1945
"Gentleman's Agreement," 1947
"Panic in the Streets," 1950
"A Streetcar Named Desire," 1951
"Viva Zapata!" 1952
"Man on a Tightrope," 1953
"On the Waterfront," 1954
"East of Eden," 1955
"Baby Doll," 1956
"A Face in the Crowd," 1957
"Wild River," 1960
"Splendor in the Grass," 1961
"America America," 1963
"The Arrangement," 1969
"The Last Tycoon," 1976

Ofcourse Kazan won a lifetime achievment award in 1999. He was booed by many cause of his involvement in the McCarthy hearings when he named other coleagues of his who were involved in the communist party alongside him in the 30's. Instead of keeping quiet and being blacklisted himself like many others did, he gave them up to save his own skin.

  MLB Playoff thread

wtf happened to the yankees today?

I had so much hope in the bottom of the 9th though, especially when Soriano beat out that throw to 1st.

I still pick the yanks to win eventually though but I didnt think they'd drop game one.

I think the sox will beat the A's, Giants over Marlins.

Atlanta & Cubs I dunno about, it's a toss up. Both have good pitching, both have strong bats, i'd give the edge to the braves though.

Giants Vs Yankees world series, it would be amazing.

I have a question about a game - hope you can help..

I remember playing a first-person shooter game that I "think" was either from the 007 series..or it was Perfect Dark.

One of the missions involved boarding the "president's" plane and saving him. Fights ensue and the plane crashes. You wake up in the snow close to a hover bike (you even see the grand piano from the plane trashed on the hillside). You meander about, looking for the Pres and you find him being held hostage in a snowy cave. There is even an alien that helps you get the Pres to safety.

Does anyone know what game I'm talking about? I would really appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

Thanks :4:

  Outkast
Posted by: Galt - 09-30-2003, 02:18 AM - Forum: Noise Pollution - Replies (17)

So, I rarely listen to the radio, and I haven't bought a CD in years and years, so I'm not really a music afficionado at all....

But... whenever I come accross Outkast songs, I like them. They've been around for a while, right? I seem to remember their name being around for a while.

Me not listening to the radio is a good thing because I never get annoyed with songs that are overplayed. Thus, I am currently a fan of Hey Ya! by Outkast.

Are they good, or do I have zero taste when it comes to music?
