Drew Henson is quitting baseball - too bad Arpi isn't here to comment...
Posted by: Goatweed - 09-01-2003, 09:11 PM - Forum: SportsCenter - Replies (6)

Quote:His past denials aside, Drew Henson will turn his back on baseball when the Columbus Clippers finish their season Monday.

Henson, 23, has reiterated several times in recent months that he would continue pursuing a career with the Yankees, who signed the former University of Michigan quarterback to a five-year, $17 million contract in 2001. Over the weekend, Henson denied broadcast reports indicating he would abandon his baseball career when this season with New York's Triple-A affiliate concluded.

But league sources, as well as several sources close to Henson, have confirmed that after two full seasons in Columbus -- years in which his strikeouts outnumbered his hits -- he will end his quest to play third base in Yankee Stadium.

"It's been a frustrating time and reality has set in now," one source said. "The feeling for a while was that he would play in Arizona (in the winter league), then see how he felt, and make a decision before spring training next year. But he's ready to walk away now."

the rest is here. (thanks JG)

  NL Rookie Of The Year
Posted by: Sir O - 09-01-2003, 03:58 AM - Forum: SportsCenter - Replies (2)

Brandon Webb

He lost tonight going against Cy Young contender Jason Schmidt, but gave up just 3 ER in 7 innings, raising his ERA to 2.57.

Dontrelle Willis is the most hyped rookie by far, but his numbers are just not nearly as good. He's been mediocre in the second half.

Scott Podsednik is the best rookie batter in the NL, and is worth mentioning, but he doesn't have a shot.

Jason Phillips and Jose Reyes have also been solid, playing for the craptacular Mets.

So yeah, Webb, and it's not even close.

I like spina bifida.

I don't know what it is, but it's got a cool name.

That and Cerebal Palsy. Because when I was a kid, I thought they were saying "several palsies" and I wanted to make sure that I didn't have any palsies.

Scurvy is a nice one also, but nowhere near as cool as Spina bifida.<font color = white>

Sue Thomas, F.B.Eye - Get it?? she's in the FBI??  Get it?
Posted by: Galt - 09-01-2003, 01:38 AM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (8)

So, I hear this show advertised on the radio quite often and it just seems like an SNL skit.

It's so cheesy it can't possibly be real. But it's on Pat Robertson's PAX channel, so I thought that maybe it was real like how him and his blockheaded son sit on the 700 Club with their eyes closed and jaws clenched while praying to Jesus.

This is show is simply atrocious.

You see, this broad is deaf; even has that deaf sound to her. The show is just like any other crime drama except I'm guessing that somehow every single show, she ends up saving the day because she reads lips. She's already caught two criminal masterminds so far in tonight's show by reading lips.

I'm no criminal justice major, but I don't believe that reading lips will hold up in court, so I'd really like to know how this woman is really helpful to the FBI.

I'd also like to see what creative ways the writers concoct every episode to make it so that any other surveillance like....I don't know....bugs would be a better alternative than this birth defect.

I just really hate the ads and they're always on the radio.
