This is the message I receive when I restart my computer...
Quote:Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.
DETAIL - The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format.
I'm pretty sure that what I did was accidently skip the registration process when I first received my new computer. I was still using my old dimly-lit monitor and after I filled out the Windows registration, I accidently clicked Skip rather than Next. I couldn't really see either button clearly and clicked the wrong one. As a result, I'm having trouble networking my computer properly, seeing as how I don't have a recognized user profile.
Help... :9:

Quote:WWE.com's RAW Preview: Kane Unmasked?
Posted By Ashish on 06.23.03
Kane takes center stage as RAW hits MSG...
KANE MAY NEVER BE THE SAME
RAW preview 6/23/03
For almost five years, Kane has been hiding his face from WWE Superstars and fans. This Monday when RAW comes to you live from Madison Square Garden in New York City, we may see the man under the mask. If Kane is able to keep his mask on, it is because he will have just captured the World Heavyweight Championship. That's right, it will be Triple H taking on Kane. Pre-match stipulations state that if Kane cannot defeat The Game for the title, he must unmask right there and then. Will we see Kane's face? Or will the big red monster finally defeat Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship? Find out Monday night on RAW on The New TNN (9/8 CT)!

The American Film Institute is awarding it's coveted Lifetime achievement award tonight to Robert DeNiro. It's given out once a year to a Director or Actor and has been recieved by such legends as James Cagney, Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg & Orson Welles.
It's gonna be on the USA newtork tonight at 9PM, they are usually very good programs, I loved the Nicholson one a couple years back.

So a Subway opened up near the job today, and since I was in the mood for a nice, tuna sangwich I decide to get me a footlong with the works.
Like any new place that opens up, there's a huge line waiting for me inside - no biggie, they usually move fast. Anyway, some Asian tourist (who walks in with me) gets on line before me and only wants to buy a 12 oz. bottle of water. So, after like 5 mins, the line moves slowly, considering there's like 30 people its not too bad - but for someone who only wanted a bottle of water it's too slow. What does she do? She starts looking at her watch every 20 seconds, huffing and puffing, etc.
So we get up to the bar where they ask you what you want - and it's like mass production, they got like 7-8 people working the board.
First subway employee (to tourist) :
"to stay or to go?"
Tourist : "I only want this bottle of water"
Then the employee asked me, I put in my order.
Next Subway employee (to tourist) :
"what would you like on this sandwich?" - they pass the sangwiches down the line, so they assume the person in front of them ordered what they're working on.
Tourist : I already said I only want this bottle of water" - with extreme annoyance in her voice.
this continues until we get to the register - so much so when it comes time to pay, they thought she had a sandwich and almost gave her one of those cards that if you fill it up, you get a free sangwich at some point, but she got real snotty about it so they took it back.
Then she has the nerve to sit at a table and drink her water, with a face that looked really annoyed.
I don't fuckin' get it!?! You only want water, that's fine - you stop into Subway and you clearly see the line, but you get on anyway. You then bitch and moan because there are 30 people in front of you wants a sangwich (how dare they!) and then proceed to get annoyed at the employees because thery're doing their job and you only wanted a bottle of water that you overpaid for anyway! Did you happen to see the hot dog vendors outside Battery Park? Did you see the bottles of Poland Spring they sell? Did you see long lines? NO!
I can't stand fucking tourists - this was the first really nice day of the summer so far, and if it's any indication of what the rest of the summer holds, I'm just gonna hang right outside the building on my lunch hour. Fucking dolts.

| Networking 2 PC's - I thought it was supposed to be easy... |

the equipment :
1 Dell Dimension 8300, P4 2.66, running XP Pro (legal)
1 Dell Dimension XPR400, P3 1 Ghz, running XP Pro (downloaded corp. ISO)
1 17" Trinitron Monitor
1 Keyboard
1 Mouse
So, I wanna link the two PC's so that if I'm on the new machine, I can access the drives on the old machine - I research, I ask around and I'm told it's simple - get a Network Crossover Cable. I do that, but nothing happens. I'm told XP should see the other computer - it doesn't. Then I'm told I might need to have a monitor and keyboard/mouse on the other PC as well to set it up as part of a network which is fine, but not only did it not work, to have to swap the cables every time seems to be a pain in the ass to me.
I see in the CompUSA flyer this weekend there's something called a switch box that lets you use 2 different PC's using 1 monitor, mouse and keyboard - it's $50 and seems to be the answer to my problem, but it doesn't say whether or not it will let me access the machines at the same time.
My question - how the fuck can I do this without getting crazy? I've thought about getting a router since I have Xbox and PS2 online, and that would make it easier for me to use those as well (currently with Roadrunner, I switch the RJ45 feed from the PC to the console of choice, but I have to unplug/replugin the modem to reset it so the console can read the DNS, IP address, etc. to work). Would a router allow me access to the other PC?
As to why I wanna do this : The new PC came with a 60 gig drive, I've since installed a 120 gig drive in it, and I don't wanna use another PCI slot for a promise card to install the other 2 drives from my old PC - plus there's just not enough room in the case for all these drives. I figure I'll use the old PC as data storage for my music, movies, maybe even try to set is up as an FTP server.

so Hairspray the musical is sending a couple of kids to do the anthem tonight and i get to tag along. it was awesome!!
i was in the tunnel under the stadium in the green room. every yankee walked by . i met ventura, giambi, jeter, all of them. got pics with them. got autographs from them all. then i walked out onto the field during the mike check. it was incredible. they gave us field box seats, free seat cushions, and comped us all of our beer and dogs. i went back downstairs to use the john and got my pic with mr met, but the best part was that you could look right down the tunnel onto the field and it looked like wells was throwing the ball right at you as you stood there. i never thought i would say this, but the yanks winning, while great, was the least exciting part of the whole thing!!! what a night!!!!
