Man's HIV Diagnosis Reversed 8 Years Later
SAN FRANCISCO - A California man who once tested positive for HIV has learned the diagnosis made eight years ago was mistaken and he never had the virus that causes AIDS.
Jim Malone spent years battling depression and losing weight, expecting to die at any time. He attended support group meetings and accepted free meals from an AIDS charity. Malone's main doctor, Richard Karp, acknowledged the error in an Aug. 4 letter to the Department of Veterans Affairs clinic where Malone was treated.
"As his primary care provider, I take full responsibility," the doctor wrote.
Malone, who is gay and has lost friends to AIDS, said he is relieved but angry at his doctor.
"He told me, 'We made a very big mistake. We did not do our job,'" he said. "I said, 'You mean to tell me that all you have to say is you are sorry? Sorry that I lived for all this time believing I was going to die?'"
The Oakland Department of Veterans Affairs is investigating.
Quote:The error may have occurred because Malone arrived at the clinic in 1996 with lab results from a testing firm showing he had HIV, said Karen Pridmore, spokeswoman for the VA's Northern California Health Care System.
The clinic performed its own HIV test on Malone to confirm the first set of results and it came back negative, but that information was never shared with the patient, Pridmore said.
The mistake was uncovered by the VA's computer system, which tracks HIV patients and conducts a periodic review of cases.

My bank card is all banged up and ready to snap in many pieces. So I thought I'd do the smart thing, call the bank, get a new one, so I'd have one by the time this one was worthless. I did. So I go to use my bank card today and guess what? It's cancelled and now I'm fucked. I got two dollars in my wallet and that won't get me off the Turnpike tomorrow morning to go to work. Also the fast food restuarants around here don't accept credit cards. I stopped at the last two that were open at this hour. In short, I'm drunk, hungry and ready to do murder.

First draft this year. Doing another league next week. The one tonight is actually two leagues. Two separate drafts of ten teams. After the playoffs the two top teams square off in the Superbowl. But anyway my team is below. I picked 9th, and got Moss and Culpepper at 12. My running backs and defense suck but overall i think it's a pretty solid squad. Winner gets nearly $1200.
QB: Culpepper, Brady
RB: Rudi Johnson, Julius Jones, Warrick Dunn, E. Smith
WR: Randy Moss, Mason, Javon Walker, Branch
TE: Pollard, McMicheal
K: Nedney, Carney
Alt: Wheatley, Andre Davis
D: Tampa, Pitt

Ever since yesterday I have been jonesin for a bowl of cap'n crunch. I couldnt wait for today so I could go and buy a box of that painful yet a good pain cereal.
I get to the supermarket and they have every cereal known to mankind... EXCEPT!!! for my cap'n crunch. They didnt even have the fuckin crunch berries which I hate but woulda taken at that point. I looked over the aisle thrice to no avail, I even asked 4 different stock boys.
I then went to like 6 bodegas and they didnt have it either.
I had to settle for fuckin fruit loops... I am so fuckin upset right now.
