and the bartender notices that the pirate has a steering wheel stuffed down the front of his pants.
"Hey pirate," the bartender asks, "what's with the steering wheel?"
"Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh," says the pirate, "it's driving me nuts!"

With Hasek returning to the red wings, theres talk of moving Curtis Joseph to the Rangers. A year off, I dunno maybe he has a Lemiux comeback maybe no but if you're gonna take a year off then say so, if you retired stay that way.

| Bonds not gonna be in the HR Derby |

I just heard a snippet on ESPN.
Bonds said he's not gonna do it and doesn't care who gets mad at him. He said that Jordan didn't participate in the slam dunk contest every year, so why should he have to be in the HR derby since he's a grown man.
Insinuating it was some bullshit little spectacle for kids.
Bonds always was and will be an asshole but I respected him cause he came to play and wanted to win. But this is kinda shitty of him to do, especially since he didn't make it past the 1st round last year. McGwire was an asshole also but he showed up after the year he didn't make it past the 1st round and put on a spectacle in Boston for 1 round.
Plus comparing it to the slam dunk contest is silly, first of all almost no one watches the dunk contest no more. Why? Cause the marquee names don't show up, like the jordans in the 90's and the kobe's today.
Plus in the dunk contest you have to be beyond creative now cause everything has been done, so no one wants to come back cause they'll just be doin the same shit over and over. In the derby you just gotta jack sweet beautiful long ass homers.

I want to thank everyone who contributed positively to the Shari Beth forum for the past two weeks. There were three days when it was the most active forum, and that warmed my pants. I doubt anyone else will pick a theme that spreads more than a page and a half or is this entertaining.
I really had fun, logged in a lot more than usual, and kind of got a sense of what the board does for the rest of you addicts who are on all of the time. My daily post average jumped from under 4 to a mighty 6+. I even told all my "real" friends about my forum, though I could see their eyes rolling and as they looked at me like I was the biggest loser weirdo I bet they were thinking, "After all the drugs and abusive relationships, is the internet the addiction we're going to have to do an intevention for?"
I guess you've figured out by now that my Suzie persona is the same as Shari Beth so feel free to call me either name. I will fade back into lurker/rare poster obscurity but I thank you all for indulging me, I'm embarrased to admit how much I enjoyed this and what I great time I had with my own forum.
Special thanks to Arpikarhu for making this all possible and for being fair even when he hated it. I will refrain from submitting my creative haikus to any further contests, becuase even if it's not part of the official rules I don't think anyone should get to win twice. (The fact that I took the time to figure out a trick to get his real name in there shows what a nerd I've become!!)

Dusty is still standing by his moronic statements.
Not enough he wanted everyone to believe he never saw, heard nor even knew how to cork a bat after Sosa's ordeal.
Quote:Cubs manager Dusty Bake'r didn't back down Monday when asked about his recent comments that black and Latin players were better suited to play in the heat than white players.
``I meant what I said. ... I try to be as honest as possible, and if that's how I feel, then that's how I feel.'' he told reporters before Monday's game, a 6-3 win by the Cubs over Florida.
On Saturday, in another pregame talk with reporters, Dusty said: ``We were brought over here for the heat. Isn't that history? Your skin color is more conducive to heat than it is to the lighter-skinned people. I don't see brothers running around burnt.''
I must admit the "I don't see brothers running around burnt" comment was comedy platiunum.
when a reporter told him that slavery was so long ago and that blacks have evolved by now to the climates, Dusty just shrugged him off and said "so!".
Genius!
