| O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00  | I've been hearing rumors that the terrorists may have been hoping that the first plane would rip straight through the north tower and hit the south tower too. When the second plan flew in and saw the south tower was untouched, it circled aroung and hit it INSTEAD OF GOING ON TO A DIFFERENT TARGET!! This tradegy could have been far worse if that second plane had headed on to the Chrysler builidng, the Chase Building, or some other target. | Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | Watching the first Tower fall from the river in Jersey City was so unfathomable and my emotions watching it so profound I can't describe it in words. Fortunately, I have been able to account for all but one of the friends who worked in the area. I pray he is safe as well as for all of those who have friends and love ones unaccounted for. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | :( I'm so scared, I don't know what to do. I don't ever want to go back into Manhattan again yet I know I will eventually have to. I have friends from school who worked in that mall and no way to get in touch with them or their families....I will probably only know if they are alive when my school reopens and I see if they are in their seats in class. | Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | why the fuck is it that every time it SEEMS things are getting better,t hey get SO much fuckin worse. i mean they put a nice lil dent on the clean up today, and then another building colappses then i fianally manage to stop myself from crying for about a full hour and i get an e'mail from a friend saying that a friend who worked for Cantor fitzgerald on the 102 floor of the wtc called right after the first plane hit his building to tell his mom that he loves her and that's the last they've head of him i thought it was hard getting up and motivated for work today, not this brings it so much more personal to me than i'd ever imagindned how the l be crying after two days how many more tears are left in ther my eyes hurt i don't know how the fuck i drive when i have to i just had so much more to say but i'm totally losing train of thought if anyone wants to talk at all.. my AIM is the same as my SN | ||||

Israeli officials and intelligence analysts said the suicide hijackings that downed the World Trade Center and destroyed parts of the Pentagon was too large an operation for any one group. The analysts said the operation was also too big even for a coalition of Islamic terrorists headed by Saudi billionaire fugitive Osama Bin Laden. Bin Laden is accused of masterminding the bombings of the U.S. embassies in eastern African in 1998. Intelligence sources briefed the Cabinet of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on late Tuesday, hours after the catastrophe in New York and Washington, Middle East Newsline reported. The sources were quoted as telling the Cabinet that a Middle East government was probably the sponsor of the attack. The most likely sponsor for such an attack, the sources said, is Iraq. The Baghdad regime has long maintained an alliance with Bin Laden and Islamic groups. "All the steps lead to him [Bin Laden]," Reuven Paz, a leading expert on Islamic terrorism, said. "Of all the countries, Iraq seems the most reasonable [candidate]." In Baghdad, Iraqi state television appeared to welcome the bombings. The television said the spate of attacks demonstrated the vulnerability of the United States. "The massive explosions in the centers of power in America, notably the Pentagon, is a painful slap in the face of U.S. politicians to stop their illegitimate hegemony and attempts to impose custodianship on peoples," the television said. "It was no coincidence that the World Trade Center was destroyed in suicidal operations involving two planes that have broken through all U.S. security barriers to carry the operation of the century and to express rejection of the reckless U.S. policy." "The collapse of U.S. centers of power is a collapse of the U.S. policy, which deviates from human values and stands by world Zionism at all international forums to continue to slaughter the Palestinian Arab people and implement U.S. plans to dominate the world under the cover of what is called the new [world] order," the television added. "These are the fruits of the new U.S. order." The Israeli Cabinet was informed that the United States might launch a massive attack on Iraq and Afghanistan over the coming days. The sources said such an attack could prompt a regional war. On early Wednesday, Afghanistan appeared to have been a target of retaliation. Several bombings were heard in the Afghan capital of Kabul. U.S. officials denied that their country was responsible. In the aftermath of the suicide bombings in the United States, Israel closed its air space. Kennedy International Airport. NYPD police Commissioner Bernard Kerik said the man attempted to get past security with the false identification and was stopped. He did not say the closing was related to the arrest. Kerik added that five or six people, some of them Arab nationals, had been detained at city airports by the FBI and the Joint Terrorist Task Force and were "being spoken to." The men were supposedly on the FBI's watch list. (New York-AP) -- The F-B-I is investigating an altercation at John F. Kennedy International Airport this week to determine whether it is linked to the World Trade Center explosion. The incident occurred Tuesday about 9 am -- about the same time two hijacked jet airliners crashed into the World Trade Center towers. A law enforcement source says the F-B-I is investigating whether the incident may have been an aborted hijacking attempt. After the plane was boarded, United Airlines officials told passengers that United Airlines Flight 23, bound for Los Angeles, had been cancelled. Three males traveling together became upset and refused to leave. The argument with a member of the flight crew became so heated that airport security was called. But before security arrived, the men had vanished. The men are believed to have had ticketed reservations, and the F-B-I is going through the flight manifest to determine their names. I brought this thread back just so people can remember there reactions to the news of 9/11 as it happened, which is exactly 6 months ago today. The movie 9/11 brought back a lot of sad memories and so did this thread. I am glad they showed that movie on cbs last night so it can be a reminder for all those who are already forgetting the devastation and destruction that was inflicted on our city and our country.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I'm glad you brought this thread back. I didn't come to the site for around a week after 9/11. Reading the thread brought back all of those feeling of helplessness and the "whats going to happen next" thoughts in my mind. I will never forget the feeling of sitting there all day, saying "whats next". It was paralyzing emotionally.
