The misinformation that was in this thread is simply mindboggling.

Well you have to remember how much we did NOT know at the time this was all going down. There were reports of 8 or more planes still in the air and talks about more hijackings, etc. If you watched the 9/11 special they radioed that a third plane was coming at the WTC, it was chaos. It's easier to assess things now when the facts are laid out.

Also there were several other threads that were more up to date but this was the first thread started that morning.

Of all the classes that stand face to face with the bourgeoisie today, the proletariat alone is a genuinely revolutionary class. The other classes decay and finally disappear in the face of Modern Industry; the proletariat is its special and essential product. The lower middle class, the small manufacturer, the shopkeeper, the artisan, the peasant, all these fight against the bourgeoisie, to save from extinction their existence as fractions of the middle class. They are therefore not revolutionary, but conservative. Nay, more, they are reactionary, for they try to roll back the wheel of history. If, by chance, they are revolutionary, they are only so in view of their impending transfer into the proletariat; they thus defend not their present, but their future interests; they desert their own standpoint to place themselves at that of the proletariat. The "dangerous class", the social scum, that passively rotting mass thrown off by the lowest layers of the old society, may, here and there, be swept into the movement by a proletarian revolution; its conditions of life, however, prepare it far more for the part of a bribed tool of reactionary intrigue.

I just read every single one of the comments. I still cry whenever I hear or see footage from that day. The comments in this thread are a perfect representation of what every American was feeling that day.

Whenever I drive by the Pentagon and see the burnt, gaping hole (or where it used to be now), I can only imagine what it's like for the people of New York. I will never forget September 11th.

Oh, I completely agree Gonzo. I wasn't mocking anyone. I'm sure if I was near a computer, I would have been just as guilty of relaying bogus information in the heat of the event.

It's just amazing that when there is so much need for information, and none available, that people will just make it up (not saying that anyone here did that). The news will put on anything new just to be news. That's how so many of the Howard Stern calls get on the air. News people are so intent about being first that they don't really give a shit about being right.

As much as I try and remember, I can't possibly grasp the mindset that I was in during that time. I've never felt as helpless about anything in my life.

This thread should never die, it should remain open as long as this war rages on. It will act as a constant reminder of the lives lost and the feelings we all felt as AMERICANS. I for 1 wear the uniform and will posted outside of the Lincoln Tunnel beginning 17 Mar for my rotation. I will never forget....

I wasn't a member of the board back when all this went down. I just read alot of the posts, and it made me re-live the day that it happened. I got all tingly and got goosebumps. Jesus christ, I hope that Bin Laden is either dead, or they get him soon. That fucking scumbag. I don't care how evil or crazy someone could be...what he did just shouoldn't have been done. He went way too far. Civilians ahouldn't have been brought into this.

Thank you TW, I live in DC and was in VA beach visiting a friend at the time of the attack. I just read the thread and have a new respect for everything that new york and washington DC citizens went through during this time of uncertainty. I still fight back tears.

Then those reports could not have been from the AP.

This is an unbelievable thread. I never saw it before, but just read the first few pages, and it's solemnly eerie. It's as if that day and those moments were frozen in time, right here on this very board. This thread should somehow remain in existence so as never to forget.

this is all still so fresh in my mind. i cant even cry anymore even if i wanted to. such a fucked up scene. point is that i cam glad they keep showing the images on tv. people need to be reminded that this war is for the right reasons. to stop this shit from ever happening again. I really hear where you are coming from FCM. Sometimes its best for a story not to fade into obscurity and archives of a news station and to truly be revived and continued being played. As much as I hate the media for their constant attempts at trying to interview for that "exclusive ratings grab" instead of just leaving the person alone, I actually appreciate them playing the footage and not letting this be forgotten about.

Reading back on all the responses, and looking at the footage again really gets to me....

I really have no words for this thread, other than the first post says it all. It was a "small prop plane." No huge deal. Some lunatic flying his plane around, who was stupid enough to not notice the Twin Towers.

Between that post and say, page three, there was this giant loss of innocence, for everyone. Like the skin being ripped off of something, something being broken.
