He went on a huge rant at God for taking away Mrs. Laningham. He cursed at God in latin and starting rattling off all the good he's done as president. Then he turned to the side and said "Fine, you get Hoyns's" (The VP) Back in the Oval Office, that door blew open again with the rain pouring down outside. In frustration he yelled out for Mrs. Laningham to come in and SHE DOES! Bartlett has one of those great "Mrs. Laningham discussions" with her. (I think it was all in his head, not a delusion or a ghost.) She ends by saying "If you don't run because you don't think you should, I respect that, but if you don't run because you think it will be hard, well then Jeb, I don't even want to know you." and walks out. Then he walks out and stands in the rain. Charlie comes running with his rain coat, but refuses it. They go to the press conference where BArtlett is supposed to call on the medical correspondant from the post who will ask a question about MS and some follw-ups to give BArtlett a chance to breath before answering the re-election question. Instead Bartlett immediately calls on one of the hard-nosed female reporters and even asks her to repeat the question. Then, he relaxes. The Chief of Staff goes "Watch this!" and Bartlett puts his hands in his pocket, turns his head, and smiles. Then they cut to the end credits before he says anything!  'Anyone who is capable of being elected president should on no account be allowed to do the job' - The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy Arthur smiled at him wanly and shrugged again. He turned and smiled wanly at the rest of the pub just in case any of them had heard what was going on. None of them had, and none of them could understand what he was smiling at them for. | ||||
