Enough is enough. Every time I turn on the news or read a paper I get more pissed off.

If Bush was even a little serious, Powell would have threatened to stop the 2 Billion dollars a year the US sends Isreal and would have an aircraft carrier sitting off of the coast. Then as soon as the Isreali's pulled out, send in UN peacekeeper troops backed by the US military to do in Palestinian territories what we did in Afghanistan.

Instead, it's all a stall while more human rights atrocities are commited. Heard an interview on the news this morning. A Palestinian doctor was forced to watch his newborn child die because the Isreali's wouldn't let the ambulances through. hell, they shot at the ambulances. Even the Isreali human rights groups are verifying that this is going on.

And in case anyone was wondering, not allowing the Red Cross in is a violation of international law. The kind of thing that would bring down stiff sanctions if it was most other nations.

It's one thing to defend yourself. It's another to punish an entire population by leveling their towns with the people still inside and destroying the entire infrastructure.

i would like to vent for a moment.

Just a little debate:

Should the billions of dollars given to the space program be redirected to social problems like poverty and education?

Pro:

The two greatest forces for the development of new technology in the 20th Century were war and the space program. Both have produced new technology that benefits every day life.

Space exploration also feeds our species need to explore and learn.

Con:

Billions of dollars are spent studying stars, planets, etc. gathering knowledge that has almost no practical application to everyday life.

At the same time, that money could be used for more immediate social concerns like poverty, homlessness, and the poor condition of our educational system.


What's your view?

ok, i know that i'm not the youngest and not the oldest coughcoughsluggo,lunacoughcough member of this board.

i kinda need background noise when i'm wasting my days away around the house so i usually put the tv on.

vh1 classic is cool as hell! they played van halen unchained and motley crue live wire videos, both cool as hell and both would never be shown on regular MTV. those and many other kick ass vids can be seen on VH1C.

i've also heard that mtv will be launching yet another channel and that it's due to start airing next month. i wonder what that's all about.

i love satellite tv!!! this shit rules.

Here's how it's gonna work.. much like a cross between the Word Association Game and Gonzo's What you really think thread, you throw out a fight scene one-liner appropriate to either the person or situation posted in the last response, and post either a brief fight scenario or a person well known to us (either famous or board member) for the next person to come up with a one-liner for. It should fit the situation or person in an action/comedic fashion, ie: If I posted "Bob Barker" something along the lines of "The Price is Wrong, Bitch!"
