Word association - How fucking sick are you people?
Posted by: Grumpy - 03-14-2002, 06:07 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (1812)

Okay - here's the deal. I post a word, next person post the word that pops into their head and so on, and so on, and so on. Lets see what kind of sickness hides in your psyches.

We'll start with :

  All-star baseball 2003 - Ps2 owners, a good baseball game
Posted by: Sean Cold - 03-14-2002, 03:17 PM - Forum: Über Geek Zone - Replies (8)

In it's third year, PS2 owners finally have a baseball game that is worth owning. All-Star Baseball 2003 Featuring Derek Jeter from AcclaimSports just fuckin rocks to no end.

There are a truck load of features that make this game stand out above all others, including High Heat, which I owned for a whole day. The one feature that makes it a must buy is expanssion mode. You get to choose your city, logo (abiet some cheezzzzzy ones) and participate in an axpansion draft and build your team from the bottom up. The game uses a very fair trade system so building a super team is not going to come all that easy.

The game play is outstanding. Easy controls and if you have a problem with the Icon based hitting interface, you can go old school and turn that feature off. This is the first BB game I can remember shattering your bat with pieces flying everywhere for hitting a pitch up near the hands. Pitching is a breeze and to have a futre throw option makes playing fluid and seemless. Futre throwing is that you press the button for who you want to throw to before you field the ball and it will throw to that player once the ball is fielded.

The only problem I have is with the sound. It seems a bit muffled at times but it is real easy to overlook this one downfall.

Johnny bravo got knocked the fuck out! - ...and vanilla ice is a bitch.
Posted by: DGW - 03-14-2002, 02:23 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (10)

Didn't see it posted anywhere else so figured I'd bring it up.

So did yah catch the "celebrity" boxing? I have to say it was entertaining. Watching Barry williams get bitch slapped by Danny Bonaducci(sp?) was fucking hysterical. Williams went down as easy as Grumpy's mom for a sawbuck. 4 times in the firts round! Bonaducci seemed a little to proud for beating up a fat old man. But Williams will never live this down.

The second fight was also funny for the fact that as much of a wigger Vanilla Ice is he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. Are you supposed to throw punches with both hands at once?? Todd Bridges needs the 24 hour Hollywood diet...He made me look like I was in great shape. Bitch tits and love handles, maybe he'll wear a shirt next time, but he definatley handled himself well.

Then we get that little whore Tanya Harding vs. a not so bad looking Paula Jones. Her looks suprised me, and by the second round she was looking to protect that repaired face by running around like a queer at a steel mill. Tanya Harding was looking pretty scary, and she looked like she wanted to beat the snot out of Paula but she probably took the worst of the hits when Paula connected on a straight right under the protective head gear. It looked as though Harding was dazed and even looked to call a timeout! But Harding won because Paula eventually didn't want to fight. I can see it though. She was by far outmacthed physically by Harding. She just wanted to get out. But Harding got one last semi cheap shot in just before the referee stopped the match.

It was there for entertainment and I was definatley entertained. So what other "celebrities" do you think would put themselves out there?????

  Band lists
Posted by: SLASH - 03-14-2002, 01:53 PM - Forum: Noise Pollution - Replies (26)

This is not a game. I am just trying to see ho many REAL bands we can come up with as a group.

I listed them from A - Z as a way to keep a record of the bands that were already listed, so they aren't listed twice.. They can be solo artists, bands, any band member who had a solo release. Style/Genre is not important.

Allman Brothers
Byrds, The
Clapton, Eric
Doors, The
Eagles, The
Foreignor
Guess Who, The
Heart
INXS
Journey
Kinks
Led Zeppelin
Mamas and the Papas, The
New York Dolls
Ozzy Osbourne
Police, The
Queen
REO Speedwagon
Supertramp
Talking Heads
Uriah Heep
Van Halen
Who, The
XTC
Yes
ZZ Top

Music that puts you to sleep?
Posted by: The Sleeper - 03-14-2002, 01:21 PM - Forum: Noise Pollution - Replies (15)

Do any of you put on any type of music when you need help falling asleep? What kind (genre, specific band) do you put on? I usually can't sleep unless its completely quiet, but I was just curious, and its topical being that I can't fall asleep.

Favorite character actors - Tribute to the unsung guys
Posted by: slackjaw - 03-14-2002, 12:01 PM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (23)

Ok, we all know those superstars, the leading men and ladies that get all the acclaim, but what about the supporting actors? Some of the best actors and actresses in Hollywood are characters actors. Guys that rarely get a leading role, yet are great in everything they are in. Ok, well not everything, but I think you know what I mean.

Sometimes an entire movie can be "made" by the guy or gal that was the "sidekick" so to speak. Of course, there are those who can go either way, leading man/ lady, or supporting roles. Now, what you really have to admire is the guy that has made an entire career out of secondary roles. Sometimes you won't even remember his name, but you always remember his characters.

I thought we'd have a little fun, and pay tribute to those unsung actors and actresses that have made some of our favorite films that much better. To be a "great" character actor, you need more than one great film, more than one super performance, I think you need a bit of repeatability. That being said, this is how we will play. List 3 quotes, from 3 different movies, and 3 different characters (this will eliminate a guy who may have been great in the same role in 4 sequels). One of you other geniuses will have to come up with the actors name.... shouldn't be too hard, but hey, I gotta make you work a little.

Now, I am not going to start with my all time favorite character actor, I'll let one of you pay homage. But here's my first.

Dudley "Booger" Dawson, Revenge of the Nerds
" I thought it was my mom's old douchebag, but that's in Ohio"

Miles, Risky Business,
" Sometimes you just gotta say...What the fuck?"

Charles DeMar, Better Off Dead
"This is pure snow! Do you know what the street value of this mountain is?"

Ok, have at it kiddies.

Et- the release - Are you going to view?
Posted by: IkeaBoy - 03-14-2002, 09:24 AM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (23)

ET is being released next week and I'm wondering if anyone is planning on seeing it. Me personally I'm not. Not just because I have no intention on seeing it anyway but because of the changes being made. We all know about the guns-to-walkie talkie situation which is just disgusting (nice pride in your work Stevie). But I also read about 2 other changes which bother me as well- a Dee Wallace Stone line about looking like a terrorist during trick or treat is changed to looking like a hippie, and I also recently read, though I'm not sure how real it is since it's one of the movie's most famous lines, that the 'penis-breath' line is being removed because it's "too vulgar."
