  Trinidad is back!
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 10-01-2004, 04:53 AM - Forum: SportsCenter - Replies (54)

After an almost 3 year "retirement" Felix Trinidad is back in the ring this saturday.

He'll be up against former welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga who is tough as nails. It's a huge fight for trinidad who everyone figured would take on a "contender" for his first fight back but he's not takin the easy road back. Plus if he wins he gets a possible rematch with Hopkins next year.

Next year will probably be Hopkins final year in boxing, he's gonna turn 40 early next year and he swore to his mother before she died wouldn't fight past 40. He's also at 19 straight title defenses of his middleweight championship so you figure he just wants one more big payday and get to an even 20 defenses, he already owns the record for middleweight.

So for anyone who cares tune in, though its on PPV.

anyone get this yet and is it worth it is probably a dumb question but is it really that much better in quality?

I am so hard for episode 3, I saw some of the previews from the bonus disc in the set from the set ups they were doing and the final showdown between anakin and obi-wan looks sooooo fuckin amazing.

Quote:A day after announcing plans to film the movie version of his Broadway musical The Producers in New York, Mel Brooks is being quoted as saying that he is currently working on the script for a sequel to his 1987 Star Wars spoof Spaceballs that he would like to rush into production. Asked by Playbill magazine when the film is likely to hit the screen, Brooks replied: "Best case scenario: a week before the new Star Wars opens. Worst Case Scenario: a year after the new Star Wars opens." The new Star Wars movie, Revenge of the Sith, is due to open on May 19, 2005. Brooks also indicated that he will appear in the sequel (although, he said, he won't have a role in The Producers). "It wouldn't feel right to have anyone else play Yoghurt, and the first one was the best experience I've had making a movie since Blazing Saddles," he said.

The Bush Vs. Kerry debate, I am so looking forward to this like I did for Hopkins Vs. Delahoya.

I'm even gonna keep score for the debate using the 10 point must system.

Merck Withdraws Vioxx Due to Data Showing Increased Risk of Heart Attack, Stroke; Stock Falls

Quote:TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. is pulling its blockbuster arthritis drug Vioxx from the market worldwide because new data from a clinical trial found an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Its stock price plunged more than 27 percent as the company said the action will hurt its earnings.

I don't own any of this stock, but Merck and specifically the Vioxx matter is the "bread & butter" client of my Firm. So much for that Christmas bonus I was looking forward to :-(

I probably want to give my headhunter/pal a call, maybe have him keep an eye out for anything in case I need to jump ship.

  Vick Or Mc Nair?
Posted by: Keyser Soze - 09-29-2004, 08:42 PM - Forum: SportsCenter - Replies (28)

Who would you rather have?

Vick is explosive but is a bad cut away from a season ending injury.

Mc Nair is explosive as well but is questionable this week and possibly more, but more durable than Vick.

  quitting smoking
Posted by: Goatweed - 09-28-2004, 01:51 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (33)

So 9 days ago I decided to quit the cigs. So far it hasn't been that bad, though I've been tempted a few times. The real test is gonna be this weekend when I go camping with my bro-in-law 'cause it's usually a weekend full of drinking & smoking (cigs & teh weed) I figure I can do 2 out of 3 and still have a fun time, right?

I don't feel like quitting weed though, I dont partake in that often enough for it to be a concern. I was getting a little out of control with the cigs, and with the kid on the way it's probably not the best habit to partake in, not to mention the cash drain it's become.

I do feel a little better physically though, I notice I tend to wake up easier and I seem to have a little more energy. I know it's only been 9 days, but it's a start.
