Year End Award Series - Baseball Player Of The Year 2002
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 12-18-2002, 05:06 AM - Forum: SportsCenter - Replies (22)

Like the movie awards, pick your choice for player of the year. Naturally there are atleast another 10 that coulda made the list so you can write in your choices.

Once again since there is no MVP debate here on wether a player should win for personal achievement or how he impacted his team with his play. This is stricly on who was the best player of the year so I am going with A Rod hands down.

He led the majors with 57 homers, five more than he had in 2001, to break the single-season record for home runs by a shortstop for the second straight year. He has hit 40 or more homers in five straight seasons. He also led the AL with 142 RBIs this season, hasn't missed a game since joining the Texas Rangers in 2001. Defensively, he committed just 10 errors while making a career-high 472 assists.

Year end awards series - Best TV show of 2002
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 12-18-2002, 04:49 AM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (38)

Once again you get the drift, you can vote for the shows on the list or write one in.

Sopranos dissapointed me a lot this season, while it was watchable it was nowhere near the level of greatness achieved in past seasons.

Oz was the same way, it was even worse cause several major storylines ended ubruptly and then were never mentioned but it's still a good show none the less.

Simpsons is the one constant in TV land, the show is always fresh and funny and it would get my vote if it wasn't for...

The Wire was the best new show and best show of the year in my opinion. It was another homerun by HBO and had a great cast, great story, suspense, comedy, drama. The characters were amazing though, McNulty and Omar especially. I honestly hope there is a follow up season.

Year end awards series - Best film of 2002
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 12-18-2002, 04:42 AM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (53)

I figured with everyone doing their little lists of the best and worst of 2002 why not us? So I figured i'd start a bunch of polls in every catagory giving everyone the chance to vote and discuss the year that was.

For this vote it's best movie so pick one, or you can write one in, in a reply.

There's a few movies most people didn't see that were actually much better than most but I didn't think putting them up would make much sense.

One of them is an excellent movie called About Schmidt with Jack Nicholson, Nicholson is the a god in almost any movie he is in but this is one of the his best performances in years, probably since Few Good Men. If you can find this movie anywhere rent it or buy it, you will not be dissapointed.

Other than that I gotta go with Spider-Man, it surprised me more than any other movie this year. I liked 8-mile but it left much to be desired, the movie ends rather ubruptly, eminem definetly gives an award worthy performance as does kim bassinger but the movie is lacking as a whole.

Episode II, I loved but while it was great it was still not as great as it should have been. I felt that the movie did not cover as much ground as it should have, am I the only one worried that it is impossible to cover everything that needs to be covered with only one more movie remaining?

I did not see Minority Report but I heard good things about it.

I went in expecting toby macguire to stink as spider-man and I was totally wrong, he was perfect for the part. The movie had everything that one needs to have a fun time, I liked it a lot.

Insomnia woulda had my vote if it didn't lose pace during the second half of the movie.

I did not see Red Dragon yet.

Problem with PS2 Games? - 2 games in particular
Posted by: x-file - 12-18-2002, 12:44 AM - Forum: Über Geek Zone - Replies (1)

I bought a while ago NBA Live 2002 and NHL 2002. Both of them EA games. After about a month or 2 they stopped working. Every other game worked fine. When I put them in it sounded like they were just spinning and not catching. I returned the games 2 times and still didn't work. I then returned my ps2. Somebody said because they have blue backs my PS2 wasn't formatted. I returned it and it worked fine untill a couple days ago. Same thing happening again.

Can anybody shed some light on this for me or maybe have the same games and know what to do?

Wisdom teef and other horror stories - Pain
Posted by: Ree - 12-17-2002, 10:34 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (30)

Who's here that have had them removed? I just had all four of them removed yesterday and the fucking pain is almost as comperable as when I broke both of my arms. My two top teef were so impacted that they were almost in my sinus cavity. They gave me the happy gas, sliced open my entire fucking gums and hammered the shit out of my mouth. The worst part of this shit is that I want a fucking hoagie!!! Something to eat other than god Damn pudding or jello. At least these percocets are fun to eat... anyone else have some fun stories about fucked up painful surgery? If not, chalk up this post to the percocet.... because really...

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - Who's geeking it on day one?
Posted by: Ree - 12-17-2002, 10:24 PM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (105)

Well, here comes my level of patheticness. Yup, I'm seeing it day one, first showing. Mainly because of the price. I get a discount through work and even more with a matinee price. I pay only $2.00 for a ticket, and this is at a Cinemark... a pretty Damn good theater. Then I'll probably go see it again over the weekend along with Gangs of New York. Nigga please.

Christmas idea central - Go away jews and other pagans
Posted by: Galt - 12-17-2002, 07:08 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (47)

So, I need some help. I have a week. No work, no classes, so ample time to shop. However, while I have in time, I lack in ideas.

I need to buy for two brothers, a sister-in-law, a sister, two parents (man and woman -- not like Sleeper's dad and his "roommate"), a godson/nephew (4), a neice (2), and a girlfriend of a few months. Luckily all my grandparents are dead, so I don't need to bother with them. So it runs the spectrum.

Anyone have some good ideas that their getting/gotten people the last few years, or maybe gifts you've gotten that were real good?

Don't make this an "I want" wishlist, as I'm sure Arpi will start that thread pretty soon in a futile attempt to steer the attention his way.
