A new band - to listen to
Posted by: Gooch - 11-27-2004, 05:30 AM - Forum: Noise Pollution - Replies (17)

Kings of Leon's A-Ha Shake Heartbreak best album I've heard in a while

they sound like a melodious Fugazi, with some retro rock blues.

good article about them by David Eggers...

 The Godfather Returns

Anyone pick this book up and get a chance to read it ? I heard about it in commercials on the radio. I just dont get why they did it. Was there really a need to write a book about the "lost years" in the Corleon family and Michaels rise to power ?

who was the best Jack Ryan?
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 11-27-2004, 04:07 AM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (23)

most people have had the bond discussion who was the best bond, connery, moore, lazenby, dalton, brosnan and everyone has a favorite.

I was talkin to a friend and I recently purchased "patriot games" and "clear and present danger" for 5 bucks a piece, they were on sale at FYE.

I already had Red October and Sum of all fears.

I loved the books and Red October was always my favorite of the 4 movies, naturally for me sum of all fears doesn't even really rank with the other 3.

But I have always said that Alec Baldwin was the best Jack Ryan by leaps and bounds over Harrison Ford. Obviously ford is a great actor who always got great parts, from star wars to jones to jack ryan, etc. He's your modern day Gregory Peck, Gary Cooper type actor. He was ok as Ryan but everyone seems to associate Ryan with Harrison Ford, while its only 4 movies in total and he did 2.

Mainly I always felt he was too old to be Ryan, secondly he just didn't play a convinicng ryan. He tried to play him too much like a super hero james bond type, rather than desk guy who gets thrown into high conflict situations like Baldwin did.

 video cards
Posted by: HedCold - 11-27-2004, 01:48 AM - Forum: Über Geek Zone - Replies (4)

i'm thinking of buying this. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applica....110%20B
so i would need to get ram and a new video card. i already have a hard drive i can put in until i feel like getting a SATA hard drive.
i haven't really been following video cards, so what would be the best one to get for the money? i'm willing to spend a decent amount but i don't want to pay a lot for one that will just be a little bit better than one thats significantly cheaper. i also don't really play games so thats not a big deal. a card that supports 2 monitors though would be nice though.
any suggestions?

Best of will ferrel vol. 2
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 11-27-2004, 01:19 AM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (8)

I loved the SNL best of will ferrel, it was hilarious, naturally. Ofcourse there was so much more that coulda been put in, so they came out with a Volume 2 and I had to pick it up and I watched it today... fuckin horrible. There's no harey carrey, no jeopardy, none of the real classics that he did. There were a couple gems but too many sub par sketches.

highly disappointed.

 Installing Linux on a laptop
Posted by: diceisgod - 11-26-2004, 06:07 PM - Forum: Über Geek Zone - Replies (29)

I have an old laptop (a Samsung Sens 810) I haven't touched in years. It had Windows 95 on it. I thought it would be cool to wipe out the harddirve and put Linux on there. So I did the following and now I am stuck (I'm surprised i got this far).

I turned in on and went to the command line mode. I typed "format c:". Ok now what?

I have a copy of Redhat Linux 8.0 (it's on 3 CD's). I thought the fucker would boot up from the CD drive and start the install but it won't. The boot sequence is: A drive then hard disk. So does the CD -rom not count as the A drive or do I have to get this thing started from the floppy drive? Does this thing recognize either the CD ROM AND the floppy drive as the "A" drive or is it just the floppy drive? Also I can't get into BIOS to try and mess with it. Is that possible or did I completely fuck that up when I typed "format c:"

How should I proceed? It's just keeps asking me to put a disk in the drive (the floppy drive I assume, it's just not seeing the CD).

 Condom Instructions
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 11-26-2004, 05:39 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (41)

am I the only one who gets turned on from reading the instructions inside the condom box?

The drawings, the descriptions, so fuckin stimulating. I dunno maybe its cause i'm kinda submissive sexually at times and like being told what to do but it's fuckin sexy.

Take a lookie, this is directly from the instructions:

Put condom on as soon as penis is hard. And leave space at tip to hold semen when you come.

Squeeze tip gently so no air is trapped inside. Hold top while you unroll condom... all the way down to the hair.

AFTER SEX:

Pull out slowly....(hot!!!) right after you come, while penis is still hard. Hold condom in place to avoid spilling semen. Turn and move away before you let go of condom. Dispose of used condom properly, not in the toilet (which I always do). And no more sex without a new condom!!!

I'm hard right now just typing that.

The pictures are even better.

Ofcourse this will end up like everything else I do and i'll be the only one.

 The ethics of borrowing things.
Posted by: GonzoStyle - 11-26-2004, 05:31 PM - Forum: The Pit - Replies (26)

As far as loaning out stuff and borrowing stuff, I am personally strict with stuff like that. Me personally I rarely even like borrowing stuff from people, i'm not even talking about money but stuff. Me personally I am very giving and sometimes too trusting. As far as money, the very few times I did borrow money, I couldn't wait to repay my debt, the very first dollars I got before anything I would pay back my debt, it's just a question of ethics and appreciation. I almost never learn though, the countless people I loaned money too who then either disappear or just fade out and I never get my dough back or stuff.

I loaned a couple dvd's to a co-worker of mine, it's been 4 months now. I loaned her 2 dvds, now me personally when I borrow say a dvd, it's back in a couple days.. tops.

4 fuckin months this cunt has my dvds, the first couple weeks I aint say nothing, I figure well maybe she's busy, etc etc. Then its over a month and I kinda hinted and asked "so did you like the movies?" She said she aint even watched them yet but she will, so I let it go and figure fine. Then I got caught up with some major loans at work that I was trying to close and it was over 2 months now and I figure enoughs enough, i'll tell her someone else wants to borrow the dvds. She says she'll bring them in, then day after day after day after day goes by and I would walk in and she's the receptionist so I see her as soon as I walk into the office and i'd ask day after day "where's my dvds?" and she had an excuse time after time, "I forgot", "I wasnt home", etc etc.

I recently took some time off and I come back a little while ago and it's like a running gag with her now, first day back I says "wheres my movies?" and she laughed and said she didnt know I was coming back but her sister was gonna pick her up after work and bring the dvds, I said fine.

Closing time and I am ready to go, so I walk up front to see if her sister came yet and the cunt already went home, now I am upset.

Next day she said it was in the car but she was in a hurry, tonight for sure. Closing time comes, same thing. Then she takes a few days off for sickness.

She comes back this monday, I walk in and ask her "wheres my dvds" and she has the nerve to get pissed at me and throws a tantrum. "OH PLEASE HOW MUCH CAN THOSE FUCKIN DVDS COST ANYWAY!!! JUST GET OVER IT!!"

Amazingly, I remain calm and say "whoa, whoa, calm down. It's not an issue of cost, it's an issue of I loaned you something and you basically take my property that I let you borrow cause I thought you were a responsible and nice person and you treat that like shit. So calm the fuck out, ok you forget once, twice, thrice, but after 4 fucking months!!! I'd think you'd remember one fuckin day to bring the movies. As soon as you get home just put them in your purse, put them in a bag and hang them off the door, put a reminder on your cell phone, do something.

She apologized and said she'd bring them in this monday, we shall see but I somehow doubt she will.
