I heard Brett Butler on radio today. For those of you who didn't yet hear, he was recently signed to be minor league roving coach, and to help Cedeno in spring training.

This interview made me feel good. Butler preached exactly what has been lost. That leadoff hitters only thought should be to take pitches, and get on base. He said (corretly) that a lead off hitter should strive to get a .400 OBP, and try to get at least 8 pitches in his ab. That working the count leads to pitchers tiring, and getting on base starts it all.

Mets had been getting away from that, and Ordonez was worst offender. Maybe they will get it this season.

Besides SOCCUM....any games out there worth buying or playing? I've been playing Hitman 2. Real good game, great graphics and realistic playing. Another game I'm playing is the Lord of the Rings:Two Towers. Great graphics, awesome game play, tons of action. I haven't played the first one, but this one is the better of the 2.

With less than 2 weeks before spring training, I figured I'd take the liberty to start the thread off. Didn't see anybody else start it off yet.

I think that the only big question i'm worried about is the bullpen. Whether Contreras is in the bullpen or not, I'm still worried about it. Hammond, Acevedo, Osuna instead of Mendoza and Stanton? I guess only the season will tell.

The real question is..... who cares?

I firmly believe that this color-coded alert system is complete BULLSHIT, designed to preserve the illusion of security, the illusion that we can actually CONTROL terrorist actions.

I mean come on, if this shit was actually real and useful, where was our "red" warning on 9/10/2001?
