  Tribute To Parker Posey - Queen Of The Indy Film
Posted by: Keyser Soze - 12-09-2002, 10:03 AM - Forum: The Faggy Artistic Forum - Replies (30)

I have been a major fan of Parker Posey's since "Dazed and Confused". Nobody could make me harder than when she told those little freshmen bitches to squirm. Parker appears in nearly every independent film ever made since 1963. Its a violation of SAG regulations to create a film with Parker in your production. Some hire her as a walk on just to fill her quota. I've even seen her work craft services on occassion.

Independent movies, by and large, suck. However, most of the ones i've seen with Parker are quite enjoyable. Party Girl is probrobly her worst indy flick and she still manages to make it watchable with her spunk and jen-a-say-qua (i don't know what??)

So this thread I dedicate to one Parker Posey, the greatest actress known to man, woman, and child.

  In memory of John Lennon

Happy Christmas (War is Over)
- John Lennon

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

{Refrain}
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight

{Refrain}

And so this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

{Refrain}

War is over over
If you want it
War is over
Now...

  PS2 games discussion

So as to not overrun the Vice City thread with talk of other games.

Since I just got the system and need to catch up, I figure you guys who had the system already would be a good feedback.

I got NBA 2k2 but gomez said live was better. I'll rent live this week.

I don't like Max Payne, I rented it this week. The controls suck and the game is extremely repetitive. The bullet time thing is cool but the fun wears thin after the first few times. It's basically just slow motion but "bullet time" sounds better. The biggest drawback is the controls for the game it's horrible.

We aren't allowed to rent games that are less than 30 days old. We can but we have to pay for them but I can't wait to get my hands on shinobi, that game looks sweet.

Is the new WWE game any good, everyone says it rocks.

I'm not much into the role playing games though to be honest, like a good fighting game I like but mainly I like sports games. The only role play game I think I'll ever trully enjoy is the GTA game. I never played GTA 3 so I should get that.

Should I get and play GTA 3 before I really get into Vice City?

  RIP Roone Arledge - TV legend passes away
Posted by: PeterDragon - 12-08-2002, 06:27 PM - Forum: Entertainment Unlimited - Replies (1)

This may be one for us senior citizens, but the TV world lost one of its biggest innovators this past week.

For those of you who don't know who he was, a 1994 Sports Illustrated magazine ranking placed Arledge third, behind Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan, in a list of 40 individuals who have had the greatest impact on the world of sports in the last four decades. In addition, a 1990 Life magazine poll listed Arledge as among the "100 Most Important Americans of the 20th Century."

Roone's credits include creating ABC's Wide World of Sports, the weekly show that probably eventually led to ESPN. He created Monday Night Football, and made the wise decision to put Howard Cosell there in the spotlight, which helped its success. He produced 10 Olympics, and helped bring them into American conscienceness.

What he did for Sports would be enough, but he also helped transform ABC News. He created Nightline during the Iran Hostage Crisis to compete with late night entertainment. He put together 20/20, this week with David Brinkley, and World News tonight.

Whether you knew who he was or not, he probably shaped the way you watch TV.
