Statue



My first impression when I saw this was, Damn that's really intense. It's a statue based on the image of a woman falling from the WTC.

Seems a few people complained and almost instantly the property managers chose to curtain it off and have it removed rather than risk offending people.

So, what we have is a very intense, raw, and possibly disturbing image of 9/11. And yes, I think this could be quite painful to view for people who lost loved ones. Loved ones who may have jumped themselves.

But, I also think it's art. Art isn't all about feeling nice. It's also about evoking the full range of emotions. Perhaps a public venue where people will view it wether they want to or not isn't the most appropriate, but it is a piece that deserves a viewing in a gallery dedicated to 9/11 inspired art.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 5 years old...and finally bought contacts just this past weekend. I find them Hell to put in my eye...and today has been pure frustration. Then, as I tried to put the cocksucking motherfuckin lens into my right eye for must have been the tenth try, I spied a tear in it. The fuckin thing is already torn. These contacts are Toric lenses...and expensive...and they are supposed to last at least two months...and it's torn on the 2nd day I'm using them. I have a bad feeling I just wasted $300 with the contact eye exam, and lenses. :-( :-( :-(

Today I'm finding it very hard to get motivated. I came in all gung ho and ready to get some shit done today, only to find that half of our office is out today. And, my counterpart decided he wasn't coming in because he's still jet-lagged.

How do you motivate yourself when people around you are lolligaggin' and draggin' ass?
