Quote:Stallone to Star in Sixth "Rocky" Movie
Monday October 17 4:29 PM ET
Yo Adrian! Rocky is planning another comeback. Fifteen years after starring in "Rocky V," Sylvester Stallone is reprising his role as the boxing champ in the sixth "Rocky" movie, publicist Michelle Bega said Monday.
The 59-year-old actor will write and direct "Rocky Balboa," which will begin shooting in Philadelphia and Las Vegas next year.
Stallone told the Daily Variety trade magazine the movie will focus on an aging, widowed Rocky who is reluctant to get back in the ring but ends up doing it "just to compete, not to win."
"I am drawing on a lot of my feelings that are in sync with many people's feelings about facing the last chapter of their lives and how they want it to be written," Stallone said.
Dan Taylor, president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which is co-producing the film, said the movie focuses less on boxing and more on character.
"It's about self-examination, an opportunity to see what kind of person he is and act on it," Taylor said.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Talia Shire, who appeared in five previous "Rocky" films as the boxer's love interest, Adrian, will return in the sixth installment, said Stuart Herriot, a spokesman with Revolution Studios, which is co-producing the film.
"In the script, she did pass away, but it's unsure whether she might appear in a flashback or in older footage," Herriot said. "It's too early in the production to tell."
But, Herriot said, Burt Young is expected to return as Adrian's brother, Paulie.
Stallone wrote all the "Rocky" films and directed the second, third and fourth entries.
The first movie, released in 1976, won three Oscars, including best picture and best director for John G. Avildsen.
So they're killing her off for some dramatic effect or she just refused to be involved with this idiotic idea of a 60 year old boxer. So they decided to pull a clemenza and kill her off for the film.
So its just gonna be paulie and rocky, no apollo or adrianne... sounds like a winner. Maybe they should bring tommy morrison in for a cameo where he cuts himself and bleeds on everyone.

...wake up in the middle of the night to piss and it's dark and your tired and groggy and you start pissing and you don't hear the water getting all stirred up and you know you're just fucking pissing all over the fucking place but you're like fuck it but you keep trying to hit the fucking right spot and instead of turning the lights on to see what you're doing you just keep going and then go back to bed and the next morning the bathroom smells like piss and there's yellow stains all over the toilet seat, the lip of the toilet, the floor, the trash can, the little toilet scrubby thing, and the side of the sink?

Quote:Report: Yankees get permission to talk to Mazzone
ESPN.com news services
The New York Yankees have received permission to speak with Atlanta Braves longtime pitching coach Leo Mazzone, MLB.com reported Monday.
Mazzone, who has been on Atlanta's staff with manager Bobby Cox since June 1990, is considered one of the top pitching coaches in the majors, helping the Braves win 14 consecutive division titles and one World Series title.
According to the report, a source confirmed that the Yankees had asked for and received permission to speak with Mazzone, though it is unclear when the two sides will meet. Mazzone has one year remaining on his contract with the Braves.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, whose contract expires at the end of October, did not return calls seeking comment.
Mel Stottlemyre announced last week that he would not return to Joe Torre's staff next season, saying he was tired of the constant criticism and the division between the New York and Tampa factions of the Yankees organization.
Torre has yet to address the media following New York's American League Division Series loss to the Angels, though he is expected to do so sometime this week.
Mazzone, who turned 57 on Sunday, had a positive impact on Jaret Wright during the pitcher's year-and-a-half stint in Atlanta. Wright endorsed the idea of Mazzone taking over for Stottlemyre last week.
"He helped me out a lot, and he's done that for a lot of years with a lot of guys," Wright told MLB.com. "He's a professional. I think he could do a good job."

Quote:NEW YORK -- Knicks sweet-shooting guard Allan Houston, whose knee problems and long-term contract created a league rule named after him, retired Monday.
Allan Houston
Houston
Houston, 34, had played in just 70 games over the last two seasons as a result of an arthritic left knee that did not respond to surgery and treatment. After playing just 20 games last season, he vowed to return to action this season but could not.
"My career as an NBA player and member of the New York Knicks must unfortunately come to an end," Houston said in a statement. "Over the last two years, I have done everything I could possibly do to get back on the court, but injuries to my knee would not allow me to do it."
As the face of the franchise at the time, Houston was signed to a six-year, $100 million contract in August 2001. He is still owed nearly $40 million through 2007, including $19.125 million this season.
As part of the new collective bargaining agreement, teams were allowed this summer to waive one player whose salary would not count against luxury tax computations. It was called the "Amnesty Rule" but became known as the "Allan Houston Rule."
However, the Knicks were hopeful that Houston could return and instead waived forward Jerome Williams, saving approximately $20 million in luxury tax payments over the next three years.
The team must still pay Houston, whose contract reportedly is insured and whose salary comes off the salary cap next year.
Houston wanted to test his knee in training camp this year before deciding whether to retire. The shooting guard wasn't participating in the full workload of two-a-days his teammates were running, but had been encouraged by early results.
Houston, considered the Knicks' best player a few years back, hasn't consistently displayed the smooth shooting stroke that earned him more than $150 million worth of contracts over a 12-year NBA career.
Chronic knee soreness ended Houston's season Jan. 19, causing him to miss New York's final 44 games, and he averaged only 11.9 points while shooting 41 percent from the field -- his lowest numbers since his rookie season of 1993-94.
Houston's last good year came in 2002-03 when he averaged a career-high 22.5 points.
Houston, 34, played the last nine of his 12 seasons in the NBA with the Knicks. He posted a career average of 17.3 points per game, and a career-playoff average of 19.3 points in 63 postseason appearances.
He was to earn $40 million over the final two years of his contract. Houston was the last player remaining from the Knicks' team that reached the NBA Finals in 1999.

I love the film and think its great but I am baffled by the insane amount of praise that it gets. It's a very well acted film and a great story and I got nothing bad to say about it but in every poll and top 10 list I see, this film is ranked with the top films of all time and for some its the greatest film ever. It's always discussed in the same category with godfather and films of that nature and while a awesome film I just never saw it as brilliant or worth of any top 10 lists, maybe top 10 of the 90's.

should be included in the price of the massage, none of these extra add on nonsense. Like in the drive thru when they ask if you want the regular or super-size, you should be forewarned that the extra will cost extra.
