Every team wins 40 games, and loses 40 games. It is the other 82 that matter.

Just chuck this one out and move on.

Hey, at least our team didn't get swept at home ;)

Fire up the Rumor Mill as Jay is being shopped:

Jose Cruz, Jr., outfielder, Toronto Blue Jays

Kevin Kernan of the New York Post reports that the Mets have contacted the Toronto Blue Jays to express interest in Jose Cruz, Jr. as a possible replacement for Jay Payton in center field.
Mets GM Steve Phillips has had past interest in Cruz, 28, a switch-hitter who batted .274 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI and 32 steals last season with the Blue Jays. He joined Shawn Green as the only Blue Jays ever to gain entry to the 30-30 club, despite a 15-day stint on the disabled list.

Signed through 2002 to a deal that pays him $3.7 million this season, Cruz is a prototypical pull power hitter who strikes out a lot (138 times last season) and walks a little (45). If the three-time All American (Rice University) were to join Mo Vaughn and Jeromy Burnitz, it would certainly put the Mets over the top as an offensive powerhouse, and also as a frequently fanning air conditioning system for Shea Stadium.

What might the Jays want in return for their offensive machine? Pitching, pitching, pitching. Toronto claimed Pete Walker off of waivers from the Mets last week in an attempt to bolster what quite possibly may be the worst pitching staff in the American League, and probably won't stop there.

[norton]I hate him! He stinks![/norton]

We dont need Jose Cruz Jr., a guy who cant hit close to .300 if his life depended on it, and who strikes out just as much as Burnitz does. I personally think we should give Timo Perez the job since he has been playing better than Payton, and makes better contact on the ball.

Jose Cruz Jr. = less gooder

Payton is off to a bad start, but I think they need to give him some time, this is only his 3rd full season. I'd just like to see the Mets work more on their young talent rather than giving up and trading them away too quickly.

Also, I'd hate to see them trade away anybody from the pitching staff, they're all pitching too well to mess up the chemistry.. Actually, it would be nice to get rid of Trachsel, but I have the feeling Toronto wouldn't be that stupid...

closer, but still not good enough.
Jumped out to early lead, but couldn't hold it.

Mets need to turn this around quick. They've been lucky so far that Expos are on losing streak, and other east teams started out poorly.

Oh we are in a slump. Ok now I gotcha. Im so glad he pointed it out because I wouldnt have been able to notice.

Ill beat him to the punch for tonight's game.

The Mets blew a 3 run lead tonight, and lost a 4-3 decision to the Giants. This is the Mets 5th straight loss.

Now I sound like Doris from Rego Park without the coughing.

Nice call Savage. Great job by Joey Mac to deliever when the team needed him to. And its always good when we beat that assclown Mike Hampton. I almost threw up when he hit that homer though. I hope the schools out there in Colorado are really worth that 1-5 record with that zipcode of an ERA.

Now, if we dont get rained out, we have to take 2 outta 3 today.
