Fran, Has she had alot of plastic surgery since the final days of ECW.

Astacio (as well as the entire pitching staff) are playing great through the first 9 games. Lets keep it up.

It is funny that the Mets lead the NL in errors while the Yanks lead the AL in errors. Soriano has five already.

Fran, it just looks like her face is a little cleaned up. She has always had great cans. It could be that she is now off the coke because the money on the indy curcuit blows. Maybe just some good pics.

Well, I really wish that Benitez could close a fucking game without having a brain aneurysm. And yes the errors are sickening, especially by Ordonez, because his main purpose on the team is to play great defense.

Thank God the starters have been consistantly good this year so far.

1. 94 Wins and NL East Title by the Mets this year
2. Hate the Braves with a passion
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year

didn't you get the memo:

Ordonez bulked up in the off-season so he could become a bomber, and worse at the only thing he can do correctly, play defense. I swear I could get 75 mph fastball by him as long as I through it at his eyes, i know he'll swing.

Maybe last year, but this year he is the team's best hitter ;0 (he is hitting .265 to piazza's .222)

Seriously, I can never figure out Benitez. Gives up HR to Bellhorn, and then gets Sosa with 1st base open and tying runner on 3rd.

To be fair, down by 2 Bellhorn's HR was not really more effective than a walk (although demoralizing). As much as I hated the hr, I'd have been just as upset if he walked him instead of going after him, and then sosa came up as winning run.

What do cubbie fans think about McGriff's great base running :) - it may have saved the game.

The Mets need to pull off this win vs. Montreal. It's time to make up some ground by taking advantage of a shaky Montreal team, that hasn't played the strongest teams so far. D'amico gets the nod tonight, should be fun to watch :-D

What a digusting game. I've never gotten so pissed at an applet window before. How the hell does Valentine manage to run out of position players by the 7th fuckin inning!?! Wilson and Piazza should never be on the bases at the same time..they eventually did score, but still, the situation should never have arised.
with Ordonez, Alomar, Alfonzo, how the hell does this team have the worst defense in baseball?? 6 unfuckingearned runs in one inning?
Remember this game in September when they're battling Atlanta for the East and whoever else for the wild card.

And on a bit of an unrelated note, Frank Robinson is the worst manager in the league now that Garner's fired. Why the hell would he pinch run for Michael Barrett in the 3rd inning after he just drove in his 15th RBI? And then pull Jose Vidro early after he went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI?? Unless they got hurt or banged up on a play or something else happened that I'm unaware of, what the hell sense does this make??? A 7-run lead in the 4th inning may as well be 1-0 nowadays, if it were the 7th and it was 7-0, I could understand that..
Not to mention sitting Barrett earlier in the week after driving in 6! (btw the only reason I'm pissed is because they're both on my fantasy team)

Id have to say, this is the toughest loss to swallow so far in this early season. Obviously the 14 inning Braves game was tough, but at least we had won the prior 2 games, and the 14 inning one was close the whole way. This one was too tough. Down 7-0, coming back only to lose in extras is really tough. The errors are incredible, i know its early, and im confident that they will pull it together, but come on already.

BTW...how bout that starting pitching? Theyve been great so far, and i expect another great performance tomorrow. Maybe Alomar can actually get a hit with runners in scoring position to get on track. And Rey Ordonez....i wont even go there in this thread.

BTW...rageparty, diamond dust, bloody anus, and myself...the force is growing :-D...all other Mets fans are more than welcome to join up with the Committee and slowly, but surely, all of the objectives will be reached.

What a teaser.
Play crappy D and fall behind 7-0, rally back to 8-7 (even after McEwing robbed of Grand Slam), give up tying run to get DP, get runners on but can't knock them in, and then Guerrero puts us out of our misery.

I know that you usually play for tie at home (and win on road), but I thought they should have gone home instead of DP because they had depleted their bench.

Brutal game tonight, defensively, horrible. Offensively, it wasn't that bad. Burnitz is hitting pretty good lately. And hopefully Piazza will get something going. Tomorrow is a important game. God awful Steve Trachsel is starting, it's going to be up to the offense to win this one!

ALOMAR IS UNLEASHED! As some tool in the Yankee dugout caught on SportsCenter yelled when Giambi had his first homers of the year:

THE MONSTER IS ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE! ALIIIIIIIIVE I SAY!

Good game today, and outside of that one tedious inning, another good outing from Trachsel! Yes! All we need is to get Mo back and Piazza to be unleashed and the O will be as scary as we know it will be.

I was at the game today.
1st of all, celebrating Mr. Met's birthday with other mascots is a little too cheesy for NY.
2 - just a reminder that Shea is now the 3rd oldest park in NL, behind Wrigley & Dodger stadium - and as much as I love the Mets, the park is down right awful.
3- Game started right with Alomar getting 3 run homer, but again defense let team down and let Expos not only tie but take the lead. Luckily Alomar was on, and hit a jolting blast to tie the game. Trachsel settled down, and game turned in our favor. Pretty satisfying win.

turns out Alomar was thinking a little too much - he decided before the game to borrow Piazza's bats, and just go up and swing.

Braves lost 7-0 to AJ Burnett, so let's see how they do tomorrow in Shea.

Nice win, a win that we needed. Trachsel had a solid performance. I don't really care how bad or good the D was today, they got the win because the Offense was stellar. The defense, though, needs to improve.

The defensive errors are very bothersome. There was another one today that was scored a Montreal base-hit. A win is a win and todays game was exciting, even if a bit ugly in the defense. As far as the long haul with about 150 games to go,
we need to see more sound defense. On a brighter note...nice to see Alomar's bat come to life!
Oh and congrats(yesterday)to Alfonso on 1000 hits! He's in good company! :-D

I've officially decided I'm being too hard on Ordonez. He lays down a perfect squeeze, and this first thing out of my mouth is "why the fuck are you diving head first into first!?"

Great win today, starting pitching wasn't great, but the offense got them back in it... something that rarely happened last year.

Not that I'm complaining, but why didn't Cox walk Alfonzo again in the 12th? If it worked once, why not try again??

Good to see Piazza getting into a groove, but could somebody please get on base ahead of him?? He's got 5 HR and 6 RBI.. that's Bonds-esque.

God the Braves bullpen is awful. We are flat out better than Atlanta this year. The Division Title is coming our way. And the Mets arent even playing that well yet. The Hitting isnt completely there, Vaughn has been out most of the year so far, and the Fielding and fundamental baseball has been atrocious. Yet we are 8-5 and 2 1/2 ahead of the Braves. We are taking it.

I agree the Braves bullpen is horrible, and I am wondering how good the team is at all - Sheffield should hit, but what they throw out at 1st is worse than Mets last year. Furcal hasn't found his rythmn at the plate and he is a key. Andrew Jones is powerful, but looks clueless at times at the plate. Glavine & Maddox are still good, but getting older and look vulnerable at times; Smoltz has already shown he can be had at times, and they are throwing a bunch of rookies in starting rotation.

Bobby Cox gambled by walking both Piazza & Alfonzo the first time, but their lefthander was tiring the 2nd time around. I know Piazza is dangerous, but putting the winning run in scoring position twice seemed to be tempting the fates once too often.

Mets pen looking quite strong lately, and even though Estes couldn't get anything done, he did somehow last 5 innings with no stuff whatsoever.

One thing that Valentine does well is get subs at bats - something that is frustrating at times, but pays off. Valentin came through big time.

Could Mets actually play a game without bonehead defensive plays? Ordonez botched another one, although he made great play defensively (and with bunt) later; Cedeno & Payton both screwed up in outfield again.

I can't take credit for this (since I heard someone on WFAN call it in), but Mets need to get that Little League CD they offer - "Where's the Play" - they've been so poor fundamentally it's amazing.

Understatement of the fucking year.

Holy shit, that entire pitching staff just ain't good. Maddux and Glavine and, um, uh, well, uh Milwood was, like, good three years ago! Marquis has potential, but a slow start, and he might be asked to do too much if the rest of the staff struggles as expected. As for Albie Lopez, well, need I say more? And that's HEALTHY which they haven't even been yet. Add the bullpen from hell (or heaven if you're a Met fan) and you've got a team that's gonna have to rely on their lineup alot.

It's a real good lineup, but when was the last time a Brave team was constructed like this? The lack of pitching is gonna kill the Braves this year, and I'm not sure, judging from what I've seen so far (though it is early) if they're even gonna make the playoffs.

All I know is I'm not complaining, because the Mets are built to HAMMER a team with that bad pitching. If only guys like Alomar and Vaughn played and/or weren't strugging yet (the monster fell asleep for one game), I wonder how bad we coulda roughed up the starter before Piazza ignited the rally with that electric HR and brought the bullpen a runnin' in.

What's really frustrating is that we're burning our bench every game. If we keep having to use 9 pitchers a game and run out of pinch hitters every other game we're going to be in trouble. This trend can't continue.

We need to try and establish an early lead and keep it, we can't be playing catch-up baseball by the third inning of every game.

Game's not over, but already 3 things are apparent:

1) Glavine still gets those BS calls
2) Astascio has the stuff and guts to be solid 1A type - just what Mets needed.
3) Braves interior defense making as many errors as Mets. 2 runs already scored as a result of errors in a 3-1 game. Thank god it's them and not us.
