I know that our roster can hit the ball, they have in the past seasons. With the bases loaded, all you need is one hit to get 1 or 2 runs! Only one, tell that ass-f Burnitz to take a couple pitches before popping-out! What a shitty game they played today! It certainly didn't seem like the Mets got 4 runs after all those fucking opportunities they missed...

This year has been terrible for me in Sports! The Pens and the Rangers missed the playoffs, the Jets fucked up at the end and now my Mets are barely ahead of the Marlins...:(

FB, I feel your pain. Take out Syracuse & Substitute St. Johns.

It's getting to the point that I am wondering when Mets can sign Scott Kazmir, and how soon after will he need Tommy John surgery.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

This is really really pissing me off. Knicks missed the playoffs, Giants missed the playoffs, Rangers missed the playoffs, and the Mets are SUCKING ASS right now! We cant have the committee fall apart though. Hopefully this is rock bottom. The law of averages have to catch up with us sooner or later with Vaughn, Burnitz, and Alomar. Unfortunately, that same law also says the pitching will fail soon too, but hopefully the hitting comes around enough so that we can start winning 8-7 games. It sucks when im rooting for 8-7 games.

Cluster F your right. It has been a shitty year so far for the teams that you and I root for. I'm not really a basketball fan so I really can't say anything about that. When are the Mets going to realize that these games count in the standings now???? I's already June and they have a .500 record. Wake the fuck up already.

At least St. Johns overachieved and made the tournament, not underachieved and didnt make it.

At least with Glavine pitching tomorrow, the 2 biggest bums on the planet Vaughn and Burnitz should be sitting next to each other on the bench.

D'Amico vs. Glavine tomorrow, has 1-0 Braves written all over it.

Watch Piazza not play tomorrow even though he should have 6 off days coming up in the next 6 games.

And if Valentine sits out Piazza in Cleveland or Chicago and doesnt DH him like he did last year in Tampa, then I will officialy want Valentine out of here, not that Piazza has done anything himself either.

When a left handed pitcher is in, I dont fuckin care let Timo Hit, Fuck Jay Payton! Timo hits a homer take him out for the stupidest player in Baseball. Fuck Payton. Fuck Burnitz. Fuck Vaughn, Im sick of this God Damn Team, Good night.

Missed the game (went to see Insomnia, that was a great movie). Glad to finally end the losing streak :). Maybe theyll get a clue and win tomorrow to put together a winning streak.

Ugh, Traschel is pitching tomorrow :(. Well, maybe he'll pull one out of his ass, or maybe, JUST MAYBE, the Mets will score runs for him.

Even in victory they are nauseating to watch. They won 4-3, Wooptie Doo, they should have scored at least 8 runs in this game, but i think theres a rule for the Mets that once you scored at most 2 runs in an inning, its time to shut down.

Twice they had lead off doubles in this game, didnt score. If the Right Fielder doesnt drop the ball on that fly ball with the bases loaded, they wouuld have lost the game.

Alfonzo hits a Homerun in the 1st, Nice. 2nd Inning Bases Loaded 1 out, Grounds into Double Play.

Vaughn strikes out with runners in scoring position. His lazy fly out to left felt like a Homerun because the fat fuck made contact. And if I have to see him in that stupid "Baseball Is for Kids" Commercial again, I will puke. Half those little punk kids would be a better option in the clean up spot them him.

Ahhh who am I kidding, Half those kids?, ALL Those kids would be a better option.

Its a good thing they won, I bet them and Im happy. But they still look like shit.

And as far as tomorrow goes, doesnt look good. Im working during the game and when I work during Met games, the Mets record is 3-13. But you never know.

At least then you won't have to watch it.

CF,
I have no intention to leave the Committee.
I've watched the Mets when they included George "Stork" Theodore, and when Doug Flynn was a highlight. However, there is nothing more annoying than under-achieving teams (yeah, FB, this year Syracuse was more frustrating than StJ).

This team has no spirit, no energy.
Timo may be better than payton, but that's not saying much. The man does not know how to walk. Yeah he has a .328 ave, but only a .341 OBP. Fonzie has a .426 OBP, but only .421 slg.
I'll be at the June 16th game vs Yankees. They had better win that one.

Lets see if they can win 2 in a row............

Well, of course there were negatives in this game tonight. But hey, i aint gonna talk about them tonight. Great win by the Mets and the majority of their offense. Mike Piazza's homer was typical Mike in that position, making a good inning a big time inning. And hey, good job by Benitez tonight for once.

Lets go for the sweep tomorrow :)...damn its been a while since ive had the chance to say that.

Well, they pulled out the game, but It still seemed more like Indians screwing up than Mets doing what they should. Mets loaded bases (agin) with no outs & Indians should have been out of that inning with only 1 run in (or 3 at the most). If Alomar's swinging bunt was fielded cleanly, inning over.

Indians have a rookie going tomorrow, no letting up. 2 in a row in Cleveland is nice, but we need to win tomorrow and really get momentum with a sweep. Especially since the Braves dont lose anymore.

Trachsel picked up the win today, a solid game on his part. A huge 7th got the win today... We need more of those explosive innings! Vaughn didn't even get an RBI and is still playing like shit!Piazza had good day though and we needed this win...

Hey, guys, after another craptastic Met loss, I'd figure I'd give my new personal Crack Comittee Objectives.

2002 Crack Committee Objectives:
1. 940 Strikeouts and outweighing the rest of the players in the NL East combined by Mo Vaughn this year
2. Hate the Braves with a passion, and yet still watch them beat the shit out of us every game we play them because WHY THE FUCK DID BURNITZ SWING AT THAT FIRST PITCH AFTER HE GAVE UP A BASES LOADED WALK??????? AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
3. All 5 Starters pitch good enough to win the Cy Young but get fucked by either their defense, or mostly, their God awful offense this year -- DONE!
4. Mets watch the World Series at home while Dave Engle somehow still has a job
5. Pray Mo Vaughn gets in a car accident over the winter and can't walk again

Its bad enough that Vaughn makes Todd Zeile look like Barry Bonds, does he need to be a shithead in the field too. He had 3 errors/mental errors in one inning. Im sick of him. He is so lucky that they are playing all these games on the road, or he would be getting absolutely crucified at Shea right now.

2 beefs with Valentine. 1. He should have pinch hit for Vaughn when they brought in the lefty, Vaughn couldnt hit a guy in a wheel chair, he surely isnt hitting a lefty, even if it was Rich Rodriguez, he would have struck out.

2. Jay Payton is finally starting to show some signs at the plate, he went 2-4 last night, Why the hell is Tony Tarasco the DH? I dont care thats its a right handed pitchter, Put Payton in Center, Timo in Left, and Cedeno DH. Thats what i said before the game. And of course Tarasco plays does shit. Cedeno plays Left and has another error that leads to a run.

And once again the Mets make a rookie pitcher who has proven nothing in Major League Baseball look like Curt Schilling, that must be about the 850th time thats happened.

The Mets are making me itch for the days of Rangers Training Camp. And Im sure about 2 weeks into the Ranger season, Ill be itching for Pitchers and Catchers. I cant win with the teams I root for.

Not a good game today! Estes got hammered with 6 ER in 5 innings and we couldn't even get to an average rookie pitcher today! Vaughn makes me want to puke up my lung! Trade him away to the last place Devil Rays, actually don't because they'll be ahead of us soon...
Piazza and Alomar are playing fairly well right now, I hope atleast they can keep up the hits.

We got the White Sox up, they are better than Cleveland but I know this team can take 2/3 from them if they can just get on base and figure out that it's OK to hit them home!

OK

Let me dissect everything right now.

1. As for the Committee, as much as i find some of your own personal objectives unfortunately suitable for our team, and as much as i want to add an objective or 2 (like hating Burnitz and Vaughn with a passion), i wont add negativity to the objectives. Just stay the course and keep hope.

2. We took 2 out of 3 and won the series. Of course, all 3 games were ugly, especially today. But, at least some of the offense is picking it up. Alomar has had a good week, Timo, Fonzie, and Piazza are all doing better, and so is Payton.

3. Recommendation to Valentine: sit Burnitz and Vaughn for this week. Let them do their work in the cages, make Vaughn lose some weight to make his swing quicker, and let them prove that they can make contributions. As much as we want to, we cant just ditch these guys, they are going to have to come through sooner or later for us.

4. Dont worry about the Braves right now. They will come back to the pack, they arent that good. We can just do our thing, and beat the White Sox 2 out of 3 or sweep them going into the Yankee series. The season still has a few months left, we can either fold up shop and finish 30 games out, or we can go ahead and win the fucking thing.

Hell, I'll take Jacque Vaughn at first at this point. It's just getting embarrasing already. But that's already been addressed, I have a few other things to vent about for today:

-I fully realize it's not what he's in there for and how dumb it is to even complain about, but is there a worse defensive catcher today than Mike Piazza? What is it, 2 for 49 now in throwing runners out?? He had a PERFECT pitch to throw on and, regardless of the fact that Bradley had a good jump, the throw wasn't even remotely close. Not to mention the fact it was Bradley's first steal of the season. If I were playing the Mets, I'd send every single runner. It's virtually automatic. Plus, it really doesn't help his cause grounding into 2 inning ending double plays...

-As awful as the offense has been, Estes has been pretty disappointing lately too. He hasn't really had a quality start since the 1-hitter against Milwaukee. And the sucky part is it's usually just 1 inning that fucks him up, today being no different. But what pissed me off today was the fact that he was ahead 1-2 to almost eveyone in the 4th, but couldn't finish anyone off and would hang a curve right over the plate.

-But hey, Jeromy Burnitz got a HIT and was on base TWICE!!! Maybe this is a sign he's coming out of his slu---uh, nevermind. That was just silly.

oh yeah,

Here is why I don't think Piazza is that awful of a defensive catcher.

1. He can call a great name and knows what pitches to call.

2. Who holds the record for best fielding percentage by a catcher in a single season: Mike Piazza, its not an error if you can't throw out the runner at second.

Now sure he couldn't throw out Cecil Fielder but at least he works on his throwing problems and wants to get better, even though he never will.

Hammersavage,
I totally agree with you about Piazza. Stolen bases are his only problem defensively. He is actually a very good receiver, good on popups, ok/good on balls in the dirt, and ok on blocking the plate (he was good on blocking the plate, but was told to do more swipe tags to save wear & tear). Stolen bases are like strikeouts - they are over-rated but demoralizing (ie - they feel worse than they actually are). Also, as has been said, a significant portion of stolen bases is the pitcher's ability to hold runners on.

CF,
OK, I'll try to put on my happy face, and look at the positives. Alomar is picking up his game, Alfonzo is still hitting for average and starting to turn on the ball, Ordonez is playing better defensively, Cedeno was playing better (getting on bases more, and playing better defense until yesterday).

Well, a little gloom. Estes has been a significant dissapointment. He has that teasing stuff, but hasn't been consistant by any stretch of imagination. He will draw the assignment vs Clemens; let's see what he does with it.

Cedeno keeps getting banged up in his legs; tough for his game. Team is still pressing WAY too much. Valentine has to separate Burnitz & Vaughn more. Team also needs to show some emotion. There is no real spark. I was hoping the Piazza hr would do it, but they came out flat again yesterday.

Tonight Astascio once again is going to be called on to come up big. Let's see if he delivers.
