Absolutely not. Alfonzo is every bit as good as Rolen just straight up. I dont care about Payton, but then Grant Roberts? Who has given up 2 earned runs in over 25 innings this year. This guy has been one of the best relievers in Baseball this year and is young. No way I am throwing him in to a deal for a guy who is a minor at best improvement over Alfonzo, and then is a Free Agent after the year. And the Mets would have alot better shot at resigning Alfonzo, then signing Rolen at the end of the year. And if the Mets want Rolen that bad, then wait until the end of the year when hes a free agent.

Yes he is, and he is a traitor why? Since he was on the Fan at its inception in 1987 and his father just happens to be an ex General Manager of the Mets.

Last night's game didn't exactly look too good for awhile there. Estes was walking everybody in sight and Bobby Abreu was making a living off of him. Randy Wolf even got an RBI single off of Estes. It was 3-0 Phillies until the bottom of the 5th when the Mets finally decided to wake up and beat a team that is now 5-22 on the road this year. Of all people to start the rally was Rey Ordonez who still can't hit a lick. When all was set and done Alomar RBI single, Piazza RBI groundout, and Payton RBI infield single had tied the game up at 3. Piazza finally hit his 10th homer of the year to straight away center in the 7th. The bullpen did its job holding down the lead, and Benitez came in for a 1-2-3 ninth to get the save. For once, the Mets defense didn't commit on an error. Now starts a long 13 game road trip tomorrow that starts in Florida, and makes stops in Atlanta, Cleveland, and Chicago(AL) before returning home to the Yankees.

I've been saying this way too long, but maybe Piazza is ready to break out. Not only did he get HR & double, but his fly out appeared long enough to go.

Vaughn is another strange story; he is hitting ball hard, but his timing seems off. One recent game Keith Hernandez pointed out that he was on the ball, but he tried to pull the outside pitch instead of going with it.

As for the rumor I mentioned earlier, Ed Coleman today said he spoke to an unnamed GM and assistant GM, and they haven't spoken yet.

50 games in, division is still up for grabs. Now is time to get their act together & make a move.

Uch, another one we could have had tonight. Our pen isn't as sharp as they have been this season. And it looks like the Braves may finally be getting in a groove. We better start playing like I know we can.

No kidding, the Mets are getting thrown around out there! These are some costly games they are losing...1 game behind those ass-f Braves now. I think the offense forgot that you're supposed to hit the ball.

2 months into the season, the Mets are just 5 games better than last year's team at this point. The only reason for this is the improvements to the pitching/bullpen. The defense, though finally improving, is still worse and has cost them at least 3-4 games, and the offense is also (somehow) worse this year. YOU CANNOT GET SHUT OUT FOR 5 INNINGS BY JULIAN FUCKING TAVAREZ!!! FUCK!!!!!!

Anyway, the core of last year's offense was comprised of solid hitters who were all in a collective season-long slump (minus Piazza). So dump these players and put together a whole new offense of even more established hitters. But the new offense has left off right where last year's did:

2001 Todd Zeile = 2002 Mo Vaughn
2001 Robin Ventura = 2002 Jeromy Burnitz
2001 Benny Agbayani/Tsuyoshi Shinjo = 2002 Roger Cedeno
2001 Edgardo Alfonzo = 2002 Roberto Alomar

I include Alfonzo only because he too, had an off-year and was in a way 'replaced' by Alomar at 2B.

So in other words, all the blockbuster off-season offensive moves haven't done shit. And looking at that list, Zeile, Agbayani, and Ventura are all looking reaaaaally good right now.

It's easy to say shit like: things are different this year, that this offense is nothing like last year's, Alomar will break out, Vaughn will break out, Burnitz will break out, blah blah blah I'm sick of hearing this. Before you know it it will be August and we'll still be saying this. I waiting around all of last year for them to finally 'break out' and it didn't happened until it was too late. I see no reason to believe this year will be any different.

$20 says Vaughn flies out to left for the final out.
*(edit)* Silly me, expecting contact..

I hope this post will be laughed at in 3 months...

Mo Vaughn's last at bat tells the story of his pathethic season. With Piazza on deck to pinch hit as the Tying Run if Vaughn gets on what does he do.

On a 2-1 pitch, he swings at a pitch 10 feet outside. So what happens the next pitch. Of course he looks at the curve right down the middle.

Vaughn sucks, Burnitz swallows.
Im sick of them two. Id rather see Ty Wiggington play.

Looks like im not the only one suffering from a bad week. Im back, and will sum up my feelings about the Mets based on what i read, since i havent seen many games lately because of other circumstances...

CAN ANYONE SAY SLUMP??!!

This is getting pathetic. And tonight, the game got rained out in the 3rd, and our luck gives us Maddux and Glavine the next 2 days. This SUCKS!!

Gotta turn this around fast, before the Braves get even more ahead of us.

Thanks to Austin for the pic

This sucks, we need to make a blockbuster trade. Burnitz and Vaughn are having one of the worst years I've seen either of them have! The pitching is surprisingly great, the offense isn't giving them leads though and that is the problem. Losing to divisional rivals makes it even worse and now we are something around 3 games back of the Braves.

I never thought Id say this but...

I want Ventura and Zeile back.

This team is so god damn frustrating to watch. Im thinking of stop watching sports all together my teams are so god damn frustrating. From the Jets losing to 2-14 Buffalo to spoil their Division title, to the Rangers going from first place at the New Year to not making the playoffs for the 5th straight year, to the Knicks just being awful all year, to Syracuse going from the Top 10 in the Polls to not making the NCAA Tournament, and now this god awful underachieving Mets team, I cant take it anymore.
